Orla’s First Park Run – 5 April 2026

Saturday morning saw another strong turnout at parkrun events, with members spread across several locations. At Haigh Woodland Parkrun, the highlight of the day was a special milestone as baby Orla made her parkrun debut, accompanied by mum Jo McManus (35:11), who perhaps underestimated the notorious hills of the Route B course. Pete Hartley Memorial Fell Race

Race report by Josie: This race signals the start of the light evening race season and is a firm favourite on the local fell running calendar. Set over 5 miles in the hills above Rawtenstall and Crawshawbooth, this classic out and back route offers a true test of fell running, with tough climbs, stretches of Pete Hartley Memorial Fell Race

Oulton Park 20 miler

Dan Wood delivered a standout run at the Oulton Park 20-miler, finishing in 3:04 and smashing his 30k personal best in the process.

It was another busy and successful Saturday for Lostock AC, with members representing the club across a number of parkrun events and delivering some excellent performances and age category placings.   At Bolton parkrun, Rachel Hancock led the way for the green vests with a time of 30:10, securing 3rd place in her age category. Heptonstall Fell Race

Parkrun Championships – Bolton Parkrun

Saturday saw the third instalment of Parkrun Championship, March’s race was Bolton parkrun. 30 Lostockers  tackled the challenging Leverhulme Park course in near perfect conditions. Leading the charge was Paul Edwards, who produced a superb run of 20:57 to finish as the club’s first runner home, finishing in 6th position and claim top spot in Parkrun Championships – Bolton Parkrun

Couch to 5k Graduation and Parkrun results

Celebrations were in order at Haigh Woodland Parkrun, where several runners graduated from Lostock AC’s Couch to 5K programme. Alan Atherton-McKenna, Debbie Green, Ben Brookfield, Lisa Gardner, Jo Withers, and Ann-Maria Baker all completed their journey from beginner to 5K finisher, supported by fellow club members. Wigan Half Marathon and 5K

At the challenging Wigan Half Marathon, featuring nearly 1,000 feet of elevation, Lostockers delivered a series of strong results against a testing course. The course starts in Menes Wigan Town centre, it then loops to football stadium before heading along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, before joining the Whelley Loop line heading to Haigh Woodland Wigan Half Marathon and 5K

Ribby Hall Triathlon

Race report by Rachel H: The event is held at the leisure centre of a caravan park so parking wasn’t an issue, I was in the 8:35 wave which went off slightly behind schedule but I enjoyed the none rushed atmosphere, helped to settle race day nerves. Swim was great although I did get held Ribby Hall Triathlon

Joining Lostock AC has been one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I decided to give it a try mainly to loose weight and meet new people. It's really helped with my weight, mental health and output on life. I've been in the club over a year now. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and I love being part of the Lostock family. My running has definitely improved, especially seeing all the medals I've won. It is not just running, Lostock offers other activities too such as cycling, bootcamp and skiing. All I've had a go at which has just been brilliant. Lostock is my second family . I have entered the Machester marathon next year and an ultra. All this for someone who couldn't run . Everyone has made me feel very welcome in the club, I now consider myself to be a runner and would recommend anyone to give Lostock a try.

I joined Lostock AC to help improve my running and to motivate me to run more often. The club has surpassed my expectations. I am not from Bolton originally and did not have many friends in the area. I now feel part of an extended family. I have been encouraged and supported to run half marathons, marathons and an Ultra. I would never believe this was possible 3 years ago.
