There was a fantastic turnout of Lostockers out of a super strong & competitive field of 147 take on the next race in the road/trail champs, the Pennington Flash 5 mile trail race.
A very civilised start time of 10am, the race started on the track at Leigh Sorts Village. This is fast and flat for a trail race and is very scenic on the trails of Pennington Flash county park.
The race starts with a lap of the track before heading out towards the trails on some springy tarmacy style surface then across the road and into the park. You do a nice loop in the woods before heading out alongside the Flash which was pretty stunning.
Then carry on & do a loop of the parkrun course where the only short hills on the course are before heading back to the finish on a very flat 1.5 miles section.
Paul Edwards was the first Lostocker home in an amazing time of 33:34. Andy Kerks (36:45), Greg Kilshaw (37:03) and Calum Ward (37:28), were not far behind all putting in an outstanding performance.
Jo McManus was first female to cross the finish line in a spectacular 38:51, this fantastic time saw her awarded with her age category prize.
There were further outstanding performances including Brian Halton 39:10, Sally McCoy 41:28, Bev Atherton-McKenna 46:31 and Sheila Garewal 50:53 who were all second in their age category in a super competitive race.
Andy Laycock continued his recent success finishing in 41:06, followed by Paul Lacey 42:16, Jay Smith 42:52, George Iveson 43:28 and Dougie Ainsworth 49:40.
Lynda Hardman continues to get stronger after returning from injury, finishing in 57:38.
There were some outstanding results at Parkrun. At Bolton Parkrun, Lostockers celebrated Heather Soden’s 25th Parkrun. Soden finished in 28:16 securing 2nd in her age category. Andy Kirks had an awesome run, finishing in 22:57 for a Bolton PB. Other Bolton results include: Lee Burns 28:51, Bev Atherton-McKenna 29:00, Dougie Ainsworth 30:26 and Lynda Hardman ...
