The Grisedale Horseshoe Fell Race

Saturday 31st August 2024 – The Grisedale Horseshoe Fell Race Race report by Shutters: This was the 3rd Lakes race in the 3 race series and is approx. 10 miles long and has 5000ft of ascent. Starting in Glenridding and visiting Birkhouse Moor, Catstye Cam, Helvellyn, Grisedale Tarn, St Sunday Crag, in short it is The Grisedale Horseshoe Fell Race

Media City 5k

Lostocker Rachel Stevens competed in the August instalment of the Runthrough Media City 5k. The race takes place at the iconic Media City in Salford. The race commences outside the BBC studios and participants by following the Manchester Ship canal, before completing a loop, running across a bridge and past the Lowry Theatre. Chair’s Fell Race

Wednesday night saw the annual Chair’s Fell Race. This is a race for club members that commences at Rivington Hall Barn and traverses the fells of Rivington, The race covers 5 miles and an elevation gain of over 100ft. The race requires runners to run to the top of the Pike and also to the Chair’s Fell Race

Pennington Flash 5 Mile Trail Race

Sunday saw the next instalment of the Central Lancashire Grand Prix race service. 6 members headed to Leigh to take part in the Pennington Flash 5 Mile Trail Race organised by local club Leigh Harriers. It was perfect weather for the race with the rain staying away.   The race started on the club’s running Pennington Flash 5 Mile Trail Race

West Lancs Summer Triathlon

Rachel H competed in the West Lancs Summer Triathlon. This event takes place at Edge Hill University. It starts with a 400m swim in the University pool which is proceeded with a 21.5k cycle and a 5k run, around the university grounds. Rachel had an amazing race finishing in 1:24:45.

Smithy’s Charity Trail Race

Husband and wife duo, Jenna and Paul, took part in the Smithy’s Charity Trail Run. The race commences in Rainy’s Deakins Park, heading past DunscarGolf Club, past Springs Reservoir before heading along Belmont Road. Participants then turn back towards the park. Running the race together, they finished in 50:52. Their daughter Edie also completed the Smithy’s Charity Trail Race

Tatton 10k

  Road runners, Rachel S and Stephen headed to Knutsford to take part in the Tatton Park Midweek 10k. This is a beautiful run around the park, starting at the north end of the park, near the Tatton Park Mansion. The race mostly follows the main path through the park, with some minor diversions to Tatton 10k

Joining Lostock AC has been one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I decided to give it a try mainly to loose weight and meet new people. It's really helped with my weight, mental health and output on life. I've been in the club over a year now. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and I love being part of the Lostock family. My running has definitely improved, especially seeing all the medals I've won. It is not just running, Lostock offers other activities too such as cycling, bootcamp and skiing. All I've had a go at which has just been brilliant. Lostock is my second family . I have entered the Machester marathon next year and an ultra. All this for someone who couldn't run . Everyone has made me feel very welcome in the club, I now consider myself to be a runner and would recommend anyone to give Lostock a try.

I joined Lostock AC to help improve my running and to motivate me to run more often. The club has surpassed my expectations. I am not from Bolton originally and did not have many friends in the area. I now feel part of an extended family. I have been encouraged and supported to run half marathons, marathons and an Ultra. I would never believe this was possible 3 years ago.
