Race Report by Checkers:
Whinberry Maze (Naze)🤔
Very foggy. Just me and Matty. Rubbish at fancy dress so just stuck with my Santa hat A great race for testing new gear. Certainly got my shoes and socks muddy. A very slow start from everyone. That’s the trouble with too much food and drink the day before. It takes along time to get going. I was quite surprised leaving Matt behind early on. I was feeling good and just enjoying it as we got higher. The light began to change. Into that brilliant no mans land where you break through the clag. At the trig Father Christmas waiting for us with the Smarties in a very sunny misty halo of light. Absolutely brilliant 😀. Just the run down now, running really well now ? Not quite ? My new shoes were working loose had to stop and re adjust my laces losing a number of places. I was running well so was able to regain them all back before the finish😀. Waiting for Matt to finish While chatting to Sarah my Welsh friend who I had been bumping into all year at different races. Mary came racing in wishing me well. Meanwhile still waiting for Matt, I was getting a little concerned. Turned out he a bit of a tough race, also he had to deal with a distressed lady on the final climb. Still he enjoyed it 😀 Thankyou to Rossendale for putting on an excellent race 😀

Race report by Andy K Yesterday I ran my first ever marathon which is something even 6 months ago I’d never thought I’d write Between the ever increasing long runs, the hill reps, the strength training and trying to actually put thought into what I eat, the training has been long and brutal.
