Barrowdale Fell Race

Race report by Fell Captain Josie Greenhalgh: On Saturday, I arrived at Rosthwaite for the 50th running of the fell race, ‘Borrowdale’.  This is a classic AL race with a distance of 17miles and 6500ft elevation which summits Englands highest mountain, Scafell Pike and the mighty Great Gable another giant of the Lake District. Docklands Marina 10k

5 Lostock AC members headed to Preston to take part in the Dockland Marina 10k in Preston. This is a scenic and flat 10k race which starts at the Ribble Pilot Pub on the side of Preston Marina. The race starts with participants completing a partial lap of the marina, then turning left to complete Docklands Marina 10k

Media City 5k

The July instalment of the Media city 5k took place on Wednesday. The race series organised by Runthrough, takes place in the evening from April to September and competitors are encouraged to chase the sun as they complete two laps around media city. I was a beautiful evening for the run and Lostock AC members Media City 5k

Mountane Lakeland 50 Mile challenge

Two Lostockers, Amanda  and Lurdes completed the epic Mountane Lakeland 50-mile challenge at the weekend. This gruelling challenge commences at the northern end of Ullswater it covers tough terrain, visiting Haweswater, Long Sleddale, Kentmere, Ambleside, Tiblerthwait before a final climb and descent to finish at Coniston. Cracoe (BOFRA) Fell Race

Checkers headed to Cracoe, north of Skipton, to compete in the Cracoe (BOFRA) Fell Race. This is a short but tough race covering 2.5miles of undulating fells with an elevation gain of 900ft. The conditions were extremely wet, and Checkers would refer to the first part of the run as a swim rather than a Cracoe (BOFRA) Fell Race

Radcliffe Multi-terrain 5k

15 Lostockers headed to Radcliffe to complete in the Radcliffe AC Multi Terrain 5k. This is a tough race, starting at Sedgley Park Rugby Club, the race heads along Philips Park Road, before turning on to trails as Waterdale. The first mile of the race is all down hill and participants use this to their Radcliffe Multi-terrain 5k

Tribute to Joss Naylor MBE

Tribute by Josie: On Friday 19th July, the fellrunning community said goodbye to Joss Naylor MBE in one of the most heartwarming & colourful displays of respect for a man who inspired us all! Lakeland Trails – Ambleside

Lostock AC members enjoyed a fantastic weekend in Ambleside in the Lakes District taking part in a number of the Lakeland Trails challenges. The event sees participants taking part in a numbers of races including 100k, 55k, 23k and 14k. Josie and Greg opted for the epic 55k challenge. Joining Lostock AC has been one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I decided to give it a try mainly to loose weight and meet new people. It's really helped with my weight, mental health and output on life. I've been in the club over a year now. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and I love being part of the Lostock family. My running has definitely improved, especially seeing all the medals I've won. It is not just running, Lostock offers other activities too such as cycling, bootcamp and skiing. All I've had a go at which has just been brilliant. Lostock is my second family . I have entered the Machester marathon next year and an ultra. All this for someone who couldn't run . Everyone has made me feel very welcome in the club, I now consider myself to be a runner and would recommend anyone to give Lostock a try.

I joined Lostock AC to help improve my running and to motivate me to run more often. The club has surpassed my expectations. I am not from Bolton originally and did not have many friends in the area. I now feel part of an extended family. I have been encouraged and supported to run half marathons, marathons and an Ultra. I would never believe this was possible 3 years ago.
