Fairfield Horseshoe

Race report by Tony: Saturday saw the Ambleside AC organised Fairfield Horseshoe fell race take place from the beautiful Rydal Hall in the Lake District. 5 intrepid ‘geen vests’ made the trip north for the latest round of the club fell champs. Fur Nations Cannock

Report by Jon: Race Weekend Report – Fur Nations, Cannock Chase. Fur Nations is an international Canicross event pitting England, Scotland and Wales against each other. Each nation hosts a long bank holiday weekend of racing. Each weekend has the same format, with a 5k on Saturday, another 5k on Sunday and a 10k on Fur Nations Cannock

Chorley 10k

Not content with just racing on Wednesday, 7 Lostock members who returned to Chorley on Sunday to take part in the Chorley 10k. They were joined by fellow member Tommy Smith. The race started in Chorley town centre and members enjoyed a familiar run around Astley Park. This again was 2 loops finishing on Market Chorley 10k

Horwich Triathlon

On Sunday 3 Lostock AC members competed in the Horwich Triathlon. This is also known as ‘The Race to The Pike’ and is one of the oldest triathlon events in the Northwest. The Lostockers completed the standard distance race. This starts at Horwich Leisure Centre with a 500m pool swim. Campetitors then take on a Horwich Triathlon

Parkrun results: Lostock AC members celebrated 2 milestones at Parkrun this weekend with members Lynda Hardman and Katie Edern celebrating their 50th Park run. Astley Park Race 1

Wednesday 1st May saw the first of the mid-week championship trail/road races. 19 Lostock AC members headed to Chorley to complete in the Astley Park trail race. This is a 3½ mile trail race covering two laps of the park. It was a beautiful evening for a run and the sun had dried the ground Astley Park Race 1

Leo Pollard Fell Race Update!

Some great news – we can confirm that this year the Leo Pollard Memorial Fell Race will be held in Conjunction with Horwich Festival of Racing. Chair’s Trail Race

The Lostock AC annual Trail race took place on Wednesday 24 April 2024. This is a fun race for Lostock members only.   The race covers 5 miles, starting at Dicconson Lane, Westhoughton. The race heads along Dodd Lane into Borsdane Wood. Participants complete a loop and then head back in the same direction.   Chair’s Trail Race

Howgills 13 mile Trail Race

Amanda completed the Howgills 13 Trail Race. This is a beautiful race taking place in Sedbergh in the Lakes. As the name suggests, the race takes in the summit of Howgills. Amanda had a fantastic race finishing in 3:44:08

Josie’s Busy weekend

Fell Captain Josie had a busy weekend of racing. On Saturday she completed the Three Shires Fell Race. This is a tough race, starting in Ambleside, covering 20k (12.4 miles) and 4000ft elevation gain. Greenhalgh completed the gruelling race in 3:44:18. Lostock AC members headed to Bury to compete in the Bury 10k for the latest instalment of the Road Runners Championship. 7 Lostockers lined up with over 1,000 runners in the rain to complete the 10k route. Joining Lostock AC has been one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I decided to give it a try mainly to loose weight and meet new people. It's really helped with my weight, mental health and output on life. I've been in the club over a year now. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and I love being part of the Lostock family. My running has definitely improved, especially seeing all the medals I've won. It is not just running, Lostock offers other activities too such as cycling, bootcamp and skiing. All I've had a go at which has just been brilliant. Lostock is my second family . I have entered the Machester marathon next year and an ultra. All this for someone who couldn't run . Everyone has made me feel very welcome in the club, I now consider myself to be a runner and would recommend anyone to give Lostock a try.

I joined Lostock AC to help improve my running and to motivate me to run more often. The club has surpassed my expectations. I am not from Bolton originally and did not have many friends in the area. I now feel part of an extended family. I have been encouraged and supported to run half marathons, marathons and an Ultra. I would never believe this was possible 3 years ago.
