Lostockers were out in force for the penultimate race in the Central Lancashire Grand Prix series, the Gin Pit 5 mile Trail Race. The race is organised by local running club, Astley and Tyldesley Road Runners.
The race consists of laps around the old Gin Pit Colliery and Nook Pits Wood. Due to the weather this was an extremely muddy course. Runners were unable to avoid the deep puddles and slippery trails. Parts of the race were single track with runners being require running in single file. The race was relatively flat, with one steep hill, due to the laps runners were required to complete the hill 3 times, the hill was also just before the finish line. Participants battled to the top of the hill before enjoying a fast flat sprint to complete the race.
Andy was the first Lostock AC member to finish in an impressive 39:36, followed by Gareth in 40:44. Rachel H was the first Lostock Lady to finish in an epic 41:16, followed by Jo in 41:30.
