Withins Skyline Fell Race

Lostock fell runners travelled to the Beautiful Bronte Country for the Withins Skyline Fell Race. Starting at the quarry bottom of Penistone, the race covers 6,2mi/830ft of rough moorland up onto the Pennine Way above Haworth.   Mark Checkley, Josie Greenhalgh and Rob Sharkey paid their £5 entry, collected the complementary CurlyWurly and headed down to Withins Skyline Fell Race

Manchester Half Marathon

Seven Lostock members headed to Manchester to compete with 12,976 people taking part in the Manchester Half Marathon. The 13.1 mile race starts at Old Trafford and runners head along Bridgewater Way towards Manchester City Centre. Following a U-turn on Deansgate, participants head back towards Old Trafford, passing the stadium and travelling through Stretford and Manchester Half Marathon

Lostock AC Donate £400 to Mountain Rescue

As part of our Wednesday night social run, we ran to meet the fantastic people of the @boltonmountainrescue to present them with a cheque for £400. This was the money raised at the Leo Pollard Fell Race. All the money raised from this race is donated to this vital charity.

Gin Pit 5

Tony Maxwell, Sheila Garewal and Mark Checkley took part in the Gin Pit 5. The race starts and finishes at the Marker Stone for the Gin Pit mine in Tyldesley. The race is three laps around Nook Pits Wood. Again, this was a muddy race making racing conditions difficult. Anthony Maxwell crosses the finish line Gin Pit 5

West Coast Half Marathon

Johanna McManus and Dave Parry took part in the West Coast Half Marathon. The race started at Preston Docks and headed down Preston New Road through Freckleton into Lytham and finishing at Fairhaven Lake in Lytham St Anne’s. A lovely flat point to point half. Parry was the first back in an impressive time of West Coast Half Marathon

First Cross Country Race of 2023

Cross County season started on Saturday 8 October 2023 and saw 9 members travel to Heaton Parks for a hot and muddy start to the season. The ladies completed their race first, covering 4.2 miles with an elevation gain of 463ft. Melanie Crompton-Goodall was the first Lostocker home in 439.22. She was followed by Heather First Cross Country Race of 2023

Rivington Half Marathon

Gareth Pratt, Rachel Hancock, Andy Laycock and Janet Rhodes completed the Rivington Half Marathon. This is an extremely tough half marathon with an elevation gain of over 1,300ft. This is a marathon of mix terrain with hills, mud, ankle deep water, fields, steps, styles, gates and rocky trails making this an interesting and challenging race. Rivington Half Marathon

Paul Lacey runs the Chicago Marathon

Lostock members had an epic weekend of racing. Paul Lacey travelled to Chicago, Illinois to take part in the prestigious Chicago Marathon. This is a beautiful marathon, starting and ending at the Chicago lakefront. Participants run north following Lake Michigan for a long run to Pine Grove. Runners then head back towards Chicago and through Paul Lacey runs the Chicago Marathon

Original Mountain Marathon

Fellrunning duo Tony Marlow and Josie Greenhalgh travelled to Snowdonia to compete in the 55th Original Mountain Marathon better known as The OMM. Held at the end of every October since 1968, ‘The OMM’ is a self-reliant 2-day race over some of the UK’s toughest mountain terrain, a true test of mountain craft and resilience.  Original Mountain Marathon

Joining Lostock AC has been one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I decided to give it a try mainly to loose weight and meet new people. It's really helped with my weight, mental health and output on life. I've been in the club over a year now. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and I love being part of the Lostock family. My running has definitely improved, especially seeing all the medals I've won. It is not just running, Lostock offers other activities too such as cycling, bootcamp and skiing. All I've had a go at which has just been brilliant. Lostock is my second family . I have entered the Machester marathon next year and an ultra. All this for someone who couldn't run . Everyone has made me feel very welcome in the club, I now consider myself to be a runner and would recommend anyone to give Lostock a try.

I joined Lostock AC to help improve my running and to motivate me to run more often. The club has surpassed my expectations. I am not from Bolton originally and did not have many friends in the area. I now feel part of an extended family. I have been encouraged and supported to run half marathons, marathons and an Ultra. I would never believe this was possible 3 years ago.
