Lostock AC member Tony travelled to Marsden to compete in the Trigger Fell Race. This a point to point race and runners must navigate their way from Marsden over Black Hill, Bleaklow and Kinder to Edale visiting three trigs points on route. The linear route is measured at 21 miles with 1650m feet climb. However, most runners record at least 23miles.
This is a tough race. The early miles of the race is good running and undulating, this makes way to bogs and Tussocks as the race proceeds. It then crosses the aptly named Bleaklow the low cloud and chilling wind made going difficult. You must run slow enough to navigate but fast enough to stay warm. The race then joins the Pennine Way for a short time before heading off across the moors & hills of Kinder where black bogs and deep growths become an obstacle course.
Tony found himself running through blizzard like conditions across Kinder so was relieved to make the final descent into Edale and finish in an epic 5:35:27.

Race report by Jo: Our 6th Parkrun Championships fixture took us to our very own Haigh Hall, where 28 Lostockers raced around thick mud that felt more like January than June. Haigh being Haigh, the route gave us its usual mix of hills, more hills, and that one section where you’re convinced the ground is ... Parkrun Championship Haigh Hall
Race report by Josie: On Saturday, I travelled to the beautiful village of Buttermere in the Western Lake District to run The Buttermere Sailbeck Fell Race. A tough 15km (9.3mi)/ 1,315m (4314ft) mountain horseshoe over two distinct ridgelines. Although a relatively short fell race (for me), a lot of elevation is packed into the distance ...
