Race report by Jo M:
Today I headed to Lancaster with the intention of running the half marathon, but after not fuelling particularly well and getting very little sleep following a trip to see SIX, I decided the 10K was the better option. I figured I’d use it as a training run ahead of the Great North Run instead.
The race started at 11am and, as always with the Lancaster Race Series events, it was a really friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Starting from the George & Dragon on the newly revamped Lancaster Quay, the route heads out along the Lune Estuary footpath towards Morecambe before turning around and heading back along the same path to the pub.
As the race went on, it got warmer and warmer, which definitely made the second half a little more challenging. I treated it as a training run rather than going in with any big expectations, and came away pretty happy with how it went.
I finished in 46:17, which was enough to take 1st female.
Not a bad result for a race that started out as a bit of a last minute change of plan!

There were some outstanding results at Parkrun. At Bolton Parkrun, Lostockers celebrated Heather Soden’s 25th Parkrun. Soden finished in 28:16 securing 2nd in her age category. Andy Kirks had an awesome run, finishing in 22:57 for a Bolton PB. Other Bolton results include: Lee Burns 28:51, Bev Atherton-McKenna 29:00, Dougie Ainsworth 30:26 and Lynda Hardman ...
