The Manchester Marathon 2026 once again proved that while rain may be a Manchester staple, race day is the exception. Under near-perfect conditions, a record-breaking 42,000 runners gathered, ready to take on the challenge in what would become the city’s biggest marathon yet.
With runners setting off in waves, anticipation built quickly. Phil was first across the start line, followed closely by Paul and then Emma, each beginning their own battle against the 26.2-mile course.
The atmosphere along the route was nothing short of electric. From Sale to Altrincham, the crowds were out in force, raising the bar yet again. Entire communities lined the streets, creating a wall of noise and encouragement. Supporters handed out sweets, drinks, and even ice pops — small gestures that made a huge difference as the miles ticked by. Year after year, Manchester’s crowd support continues to grow, and 2026 was no exception.
After months of relentless training, both Phil and Emma had their sights set on personal bests — and they delivered.
Phil led the charge with an outstanding performance, crossing the finish line in 3:28 and smashing his PB by an impressive seven minutes. Paul followed with a strong and determined run, finishing in 4:26. Then came Emma, whose race was nothing short of inspirational. Battling cramp from as early as mile 10, she showed incredible grit to push through and secure a huge 30-minute PB, finishing in 4:58.
Three runners, three incredible efforts, and a day that perfectly captured the spirit of the Manchester Marathon — determination, community, and unforgettable achievement.
