Race report by Gareth:
Another terrific turnout of 19 Lostockers headed north yesterday for the 4th instalment of this year’s road/trail champs…the Lancaster Three Bridges 10K.
Starting & finishing (🤮) on the track at Salt Ayre sports centre, this is for the most part a flat & fast 10K crisscrossing the picturesque River Lune. As the title suggests you cross three bridges, one of them twice, two of the three are merely a bump in the road in terms of elevation but the second one at the halfway stage is vertical up some very steep steps & knocks the wind out of your sails & accounts for the majority of the 130ft or so of elevation.
We were underway at 11:00 on a very pleasant & not too warm, sunny morning. A track start means you inevitably start off too quick & speedster Antony was off like a shot, never to be seen again (until the finish lol, he’s not missing or anything😆) on his way to another 10K PB & the biggest prize of all…first Lostocker back. Then it’s off the track & onto the cycle paths adjacent to the river before hitting the steep bridge at 5K, onto the roads for a mile or so then back onto the river, over a big bridge on the edge of the city before picking up the cycle paths again, over the the first bridge we crossed for the second time (confusing isn’t it?) & a long straight run back tot he track for a vomit inducing lap of the track to finish.
Too many to mention everyone individually but as usual there were some great performers in green. Big shout out to Gillian Baker for a very strong run & 10K PB 👏👏👏, Gaz for a really strong run on his return from injury, Hazel for a super speedy race after illness to be first female Lostocker back. Really strong finishes from Douglas to dip under 59 mins & Katie to just beat the 60 mins marker, well done guys 👊👊 & Matt continues his rise up the rankings with another top performance in undoubtedly the best sunglasses of the day.
Sadly Brian wasn’t feeling well & dropped out after a mile & hero of the day goes to Lynda, who despite a nasty fall & pulling her hamstring limped on to the finish to claim her medal in style.
Big thanks to Greg, Emma & Orla for the support and photography 💚🖤.
Well done everyone on a lovely morning out.

Race report by Jo: Our 6th Parkrun Championships fixture took us to our very own Haigh Hall, where 28 Lostockers raced around thick mud that felt more like January than June. Haigh being Haigh, the route gave us its usual mix of hills, more hills, and that one section where you’re convinced the ground is ... Parkrun Championship Haigh Hall
Race report by Josie: On Saturday, I travelled to the beautiful village of Buttermere in the Western Lake District to run The Buttermere Sailbeck Fell Race. A tough 15km (9.3mi)/ 1,315m (4314ft) mountain horseshoe over two distinct ridgelines. Although a relatively short fell race (for me), a lot of elevation is packed into the distance ...
