Race report by Checkers:

Disappointed that I couldn’t join everyone at the Rami Mile. Knew I wouldn’t be able to make the start time coming straight from work. So had a look at two other races Foe Edge and Cracken Edge Hayfield both equal distance from work 41 miles. Foe Edge Rossendale start time was 7pm  Cracken Edge 7:30pm . Studied the traffic on the previous nights. Worked out that I could get to do Cracken Edge. Because of the later start. But only just. Cut off for registration was 7:15pm  I had my number on my chest at 7:15pm😄 I was in Yeah.  A straight uphill start made it a slow start which suited me with some congestion at stiles giving us welcome breaks. The course meandered and undulated along the west side of the hill for quite someway. Then you can see the faster runners coming back up from the other side. Flipping heck 😮 We still have to go down yet😮 Soon flew down the road section. I  really enjoyed the climb back up through the gorse love the smell . I had my good climbing legs on today.  Thankfully not too tired for the brilliant long 2mile+ downhill to the finish. I had ran this section before in the Kinder Trog race usually on tired legs. I was feeling good, the run down was everything that had expected it to be. Even passed another runner😄. As I was coming into the finish I could hear the church clock chiming 9pm .Now it was a race against the clock I went for it. Alas not to be the last chime came and went just before I entered the finish funnel 🙁. The race was great fun. Lots of banter with other runners everyone was very chatty 😀 tonight. I think I finished in just less than 1:30 As we started at 7:31pm  The course was a figure of 8 with 2 climbs 1450ft and a long 7miles

Parkrun Championship Haigh Hall

Race report by Jo: Our 6th Parkrun Championships fixture took us to our very own Haigh Hall, where 28 Lostockers raced around thick mud that felt more like January than June. Haigh being Haigh, the route gave us its usual mix of hills, more hills, and that one section where you’re convinced the ground is ... Parkrun Championship Haigh Hall

Buttermere Sailbeck Fell Race 2026

Race report by Josie: On Saturday, I travelled to the beautiful village of Buttermere in the Western Lake District to run The Buttermere Sailbeck Fell Race. A tough 15km (9.3mi)/ 1,315m (4314ft) mountain horseshoe over two distinct ridgelines. Although a relatively short fell race (for me), a lot of elevation is packed into the distance ... Joining Lostock AC has been one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I decided to give it a try mainly to loose weight and meet new people. It's really helped with my weight, mental health and output on life. I've been in the club over a year now. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and I love being part of the Lostock family. My running has definitely improved, especially seeing all the medals I've won. It is not just running, Lostock offers other activities too such as cycling, bootcamp and skiing. All I've had a go at which has just been brilliant. Lostock is my second family . I have entered the Machester marathon next year and an ultra. All this for someone who couldn't run . Everyone has made me feel very welcome in the club, I now consider myself to be a runner and would recommend anyone to give Lostock a try.

I joined Lostock AC to help improve my running and to motivate me to run more often. The club has surpassed my expectations. I am not from Bolton originally and did not have many friends in the area. I now feel part of an extended family. I have been encouraged and supported to run half marathons, marathons and an Ultra. I would never believe this was possible 3 years ago.

I’m proud to be a member of Lostock AC, it’s an inclusive club with lovely people, there’s plenty of sporting activities to get involved in and the social get togethers are always welcoming and fun.
