Race Report by Checkers:
Happy New year everyone
Yesterday morning I went to Glossop to do the Wormstones fell race. This is a very good proper fell race. You set off 200m downhill on the road then join a very long queue over a stile still going down through the woods. The the real work a looong haul up the hill. It was here I had to wake my body up after coming off a night shift. Where I spent most of it on my bum driving a fork truck. My back just ached all the way up. I was going backwards. Going into the wind. Once on the top it undulates through a mud fest of trods. Able to hold my position here. With the Dalmatians. Now for the best bit the looong downhill. This is brilliant real deep mud I’m glad I m good at getting through it I just slalom my way down using the mud to break my fall. The trouble was, that I was having blurred vision. Enjoying it now and picking up speed beginning to claw my way back into the race. It wouldn’t be a true fell race without a final climb. By now the porridge and coffee had kicked in. Over took a number of runners not quite catching the dalmations. Hopefully I can do it next year not after a night shift. It’s a great race

Race report by Jo: Our 6th Parkrun Championships fixture took us to our very own Haigh Hall, where 28 Lostockers raced around thick mud that felt more like January than June. Haigh being Haigh, the route gave us its usual mix of hills, more hills, and that one section where you’re convinced the ground is ... Parkrun Championship Haigh Hall
Race report by Josie: On Saturday, I travelled to the beautiful village of Buttermere in the Western Lake District to run The Buttermere Sailbeck Fell Race. A tough 15km (9.3mi)/ 1,315m (4314ft) mountain horseshoe over two distinct ridgelines. Although a relatively short fell race (for me), a lot of elevation is packed into the distance ...
