Lostock members had an epic weekend of racing. Paul Lacey travelled to Chicago, Illinois to take part in the prestigious Chicago Marathon. This is a beautiful marathon, starting and ending at the Chicago lakefront. Participants run north following Lake Michigan for a long run to Pine Grove. Runners then head back towards Chicago and through the streets taking in the sights and sounds of the city. Runners continue to head south to Douglas before heading back to the lakefront.
This is an iconic race and Lacey had an amazing run. He completed the race in 3:58:30. He also ran an extra mile completing 27.25 miles.
Lostock AC members saw out 2025 and welcomed in 2026 in characteristically energetic fashion, tackling challenging fell races, Parkruns and milestone celebrations across the country. Celebrations continued on 3 January at Clarence parkrun, where Janet, Bev, Brian and Greg all completed their 50th Parkruns, with the occasion made even more special as it coincided with Bev’s birthday. New Year’s Day saw Lostock members swap the fells for parks as they began 2026 in running shoes. At Haigh Woodland Parkrun, Antony Sutton led the club home in 26:48, followed by Matt W (29:44), Katie (30:13), Carol (30:40) and Ian B (31:22).
