Not content with just racing on Friday Tony and Josie competed in the Loughrigg Silver Howe Chase on Sunday. They were joined by fellow Lostocker, Mark. This is another tough race covering 8.7 miles and 2,887ft.
The race started in Ambleside in the Lake District and climbs the tough Longhrigg Fell and then heads to the summit of Silver How. Participants then turn around and head back to Ambleside, faced with another climb to the top of Longhrigg Fell.
Tony was the first across the finish line in 1:53:03, followed by Josie, who despite a nasty fall finished in 2:12:44 and Checklers in 2.42.13.
Lostock AC members saw out 2025 and welcomed in 2026 in characteristically energetic fashion, tackling challenging fell races, Parkruns and milestone celebrations across the country. Celebrations continued on 3 January at Clarence parkrun, where Janet, Bev, Brian and Greg all completed their 50th Parkruns, with the occasion made even more special as it coincided with Bev’s birthday. New Year’s Day saw Lostock members swap the fells for parks as they began 2026 in running shoes. At Haigh Woodland Parkrun, Antony Sutton led the club home in 26:48, followed by Matt W (29:44), Katie (30:13), Carol (30:40) and Ian B (31:22).
