Lostock Athletic Club gathered to celebrate a year of remarkable performances and personal milestones, as members came together for the annual awards evening. The event highlighted the depth of talent across disciplines ranging from cross country and road running to fell racing and multi‑event competitions.
The club’s cross-country accolades reflected strong performances across age categories. Louise Read claimed the FV40 title, Karen Taylor secured FV50, Greg Kilshaw took MV40, and Andy Laycock added the MV50 award to his growing list of achievements.
Lostock’s multi‑sport athletes were also recognised for standout seasons. Mary White and Andy Laycock earned the duathlon honours, while Rachel Hancock and Evan Burrell topped the sprint triathlon categories. The Olympic distance triathlon award went to David Wilkes.
The club’s fell runners enjoyed a strong year on the hills. Awards went to Robert Sharkey (MV40), Mark Shuttleworth (MV50), Mark Checkley (MV60) and Josie Greenhalgh (FV50), each demonstrating strength across some of the region’s toughest terrain.
In the Midweek Camps competition, Rob Sharkey and Josie Greenhalgh took the male and female titles respectively. The Lakes Championship mirrored that success, with Mark Shuttleworth and Josie Greenhalgh crowned champions after a season of challenging Lakeland routes.
Road running saw a wide spread of winners across the age categories. Female awards went to Jo McManus (FV40), Terri Aldred (FV45), Janet Rhodes (FV50), Heather Soden (FV55), Sheila Garewal (FV65) and Gill Caldwell (FV70). Male winners included Gaz Foulkes (MV40), Dave Parry (MV45), Gareth Pratt (MV50), Andy Laycock (MV55), Brian Halton (MV60) and Tony Maxwell (MV65).
Midweek road titles were awarded to Dave Parry (male) and Janet Rhodes (female), recognising their consistency throughout the season.
The club’s annual treasure hunt winners, Janet Rhodes, Ian Johnson, Sally McCoy and Heather Soden, were celebrated for their teamwork and enthusiasm.
The Multi Events Award went to Rachel Hancock, while Gill Baker was recognised as the club’s Most Improved athlete.
The prestigious Chair’s Awards were presented to Gareth Pratt, Jo McManus, Paul Lacey, Andy Laycock, Mark Shuttleworth and Mark Smith, honouring their contributions to the club and organisation of events.
Rounding off the evening, the Club Award was presented to Rachel Stevens, acknowledging her exceptional commitment to Lostock AC throughout the year.
