Race Report by Sheila:
A 10k fancy dress race along roads in the Langdale Valley – what’s not to like? Well, it was cold and damp but it wasn’t full-on raining so not bad for the Lakes in December!
The race started and finished in a muddy field by the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel but was otherwise on quiet tarmac roads, first running east along the undulating valley road, then climbing around the back of Chapel Stile village before descending into the grounds of the Langdale Hotel at Elterwater for the welcome mid-way water and mulled wine station. Then back along the road, running west and knowing there were all those ups and downs to do again. It was fun and I was pleased with my time (just under 1:05, 9th of 31 FV 60) given the terrain and pretty slow start – and my Christmas pudding! And Tony, who heroically came to support me, was pleased that we didn’t have to get towed out of the muddy car park this time!
