Warrington Festival of Racing

Lostock AC members travelled to Warrington to take part in the Runthrough Warrington Running Festival. Participants could compete in a range of events covering different distances. Rachel H completed the 1/2 marathon. The race started in Bank Park in the centre of Warrington and snaked around the streets in the city centre, cutting through Victoria Warrington Festival of Racing

Strange Struggle Fell Race

Checkers competed in the Strange Struggle Fell Race, organised by Fat Boys Running club. This is a fun and friendly 9.9km fell race on a beautiful route, in Hathersage, west of Sheffield. Josie’s Busy weekend

Fell Captain Josie had a busy weekend of racing. On Saturday she completed the Three Shires Fell Race. This is a tough race, starting in Ambleside, covering 20k (12.4 miles) and 4000ft elevation gain. Greenhalgh completed the gruelling race in 3:44:18. Bury 10k

Lostock AC members headed to Bury to compete in the Bury 10k for the latest instalment of the Road Runners Championship. 7 Lostockers lined up with over 1,000 runners in the rain to complete the 10k route. Starting in Bury Town Centre, the race headed towards Tottington for approximately 2.5 miles. Participants then completed a Bury 10k

Quays Blackleach 5 mile trail

Member took part in the latest instalment of the Central Lancashire Grand Prix, the Quays Blackleach 5 mile trail race. The race takes is 2 laps Blackleach Park. The first Lostock member to finish was Andy in 39:46, followed by Jo 40:05 who was 2nd in age category, Tony in 40:56 who was 3rd in Quays Blackleach 5 mile trail

Keswick Trail Challenges

Gareth and Louise headed to the Lake district take part in the Lakeland Trails Keswick challenges. It was an extremely hot day which impacted runners performances. Gareth defeated the 10k, the includes 1000ft of climbing in 1:00:46, achieving 3rd in his age category. Despite 2 nasty falls, Louise was able to complete the 15k in Keswick Trail Challenges

The Yorkshire Man Marathon

Lostock AC members embarked on another challenge, the gruelling Yorkshire Man. This is an off-road marathon across the South Pennines. The 26.2 miles covers a dizzying elevation gain of 3,300ft. The rain was not kind, and this made the race even more demanding. Some paths had turned to rivers and participants were required to wade The Yorkshire Man Marathon

Congratulations to Lostock AC members Chris, Gill, Mary and Jo who were all won trophies at the CLGP presentation. Chris was awarded his medal for attending 12 races. Mary won her age category Gill came second in her age category Jo came second in her age category

Joining Lostock AC has been one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I decided to give it a try mainly to loose weight and meet new people. It's really helped with my weight, mental health and output on life. I've been in the club over a year now. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and I love being part of the Lostock family. My running has definitely improved, especially seeing all the medals I've won. It is not just running, Lostock offers other activities too such as cycling, bootcamp and skiing. All I've had a go at which has just been brilliant. Lostock is my second family . I have entered the Machester marathon next year and an ultra. All this for someone who couldn't run . Everyone has made me feel very welcome in the club, I now consider myself to be a runner and would recommend anyone to give Lostock a try.

I joined Lostock AC to help improve my running and to motivate me to run more often. The club has surpassed my expectations. I am not from Bolton originally and did not have many friends in the area. I now feel part of an extended family. I have been encouraged and supported to run half marathons, marathons and an Ultra. I would never believe this was possible 3 years ago.
