Gaz and Rachel travelled to London to take part in the iconic Royal Parks Half Marathon. The race starts in Hyde Park before heading out the park, through Wellington Arch and Green Park, past Buckingham Palace and then along St James Park. Runners then see some fantastic sights including the Houses of Parliament, 10 Downing Street, Trafalgar Square then heading along to Mall back towards the palace.
At the 5 mile point, runners re entered Hyde Park and the final 8 miles circled the narrow paths of the park. This was an extremely busy race with 18,000 participants. Gaz had a fantastic race getting a new 1/2 marathon PB and finishing in 1:43:01. Gaz was running to raise money for the Charity Tommy’s and to date has raised over £800.
Rachel started in a later wave, due to getting stuck in an ver long queue for the toilets and spent the majority of the race over taking other runners. Knowing it was not going to be a PB day Rachel enjoyed the course taking photos and videos, completing the race in 2:04:22.
