Rachel S braved the weather and headed to the Welsh coast to take part in the Abergele running festival. The festival consists of both a 5k and a 10k.
The 5k race commenced at 9.30am. Storm Ashley was making herself known to runners with strong wind and rain. The race was a flat and straight run along Abergele sea front, with a u-turn at 1.5 miles. Rachel had a fantastic start to the race maintaining a strong pace for the first 2 miles. The rain and wind were making race conditions tough, and Rachel also suffered from a nosebleed during the last mile. Rachel finished in 26:19.
There was an hour break prior to the 10k and runners sheltered in their cars hoping that the rain would clear.
Rachel had decided to enjoy the 10k and maintain a steady pace. This race followed the same route but continuing furtheralong the cost before the u-turn. The 10k also involved a steep hill just prior to the turn around covering 200ft elevation gainover a short distance.
The race started in rain and wind but when Rachel hit mile 4, the weather completely changed. The sun came out, with blue skies and rainbows. This was a beautiful end to the race with Stevens finishing in 57:37.

Race report by Jo: Our 6th Parkrun Championships fixture took us to our very own Haigh Hall, where 28 Lostockers raced around thick mud that felt more like January than June. Haigh being Haigh, the route gave us its usual mix of hills, more hills, and that one section where you’re convinced the ground is ... Parkrun Championship Haigh Hall
Race report by Josie: On Saturday, I travelled to the beautiful village of Buttermere in the Western Lake District to run The Buttermere Sailbeck Fell Race. A tough 15km (9.3mi)/ 1,315m (4314ft) mountain horseshoe over two distinct ridgelines. Although a relatively short fell race (for me), a lot of elevation is packed into the distance ...
