Wilmslow 10k

The Wilmslow 10k took place on Sunday. This is a popular race with world class athletes taking part. They were joined by Lostock AC members Gaz, who finished in 48:47 and Stephen,  completing his first race as a Lostock AC member in 1:11:44.

Astley Park Trail Series 3/3

The final race in the Lostock AC Road and Trail Midweek Championships took place this week with 17 members heading to Chorley for the final instalment of the Astley Park Race Series. This was the final of 3 races. Paul E had an amazing series and completed the 3.8 mile run in 23:51, followed by Astley Park Trail Series 3/3

Blackrod Scarecrow Festival 10k

Lostockers took part in the first ever Scarecrow Festival Race in Blackrod. The race was part of the hugely popular Scarecrow Festival that takes place in Blackrod every July. The race commenced at The Hilltops and then headed down Manchester Road, through the centre of Blackrod, then back along Vicarage Road, down the side of Blackrod Scarecrow Festival 10k

Saunders Lakeland Mountain Marathon

Fell Runners, Josie and Tony travelled to the Lake District to compete in the 2024 Edition of the Saunders Lakeland Mountain Marathon. The event takes place over 2 days and participants have 12 hours to find controls, they must navigating the fells with a partner, carrying all theyneed for the weekend on their backs back. Ironman Bolton 70.3

Bolton played host to the world famous Ironman competition and Lostock AC members were keen to join the action. Paul Lacey, Melonie Crompton and Lurdes Corlett all competed in the Ironman 70.3. This epic endurance event commences with early morning 1.2 mile in Pennington Flash. After a quick transition, participants complete a 56-mile bike ride. Ironman Bolton 70.3

Bolton Night Run

Lostock AC members competed in the Bolton Night Run, the Friday prior to the main event. Participants could compete in either a 5k or 10k. The race routes started in Bolton Town Centre, went out to Queens Park and back to the finish line.   On the 10k, Paul Edwards had a fantastic run and Bolton Night Run

Treasure Hunt 2024

Lostockers participated in the club’s annual treasure hunt. This is one of the highlights of the club calendar. This is a friendly competition, with some members taking the event more seriously than others! This year’s hunt took place around Westhoughton, Aspull and Borsdane Woods. Members were given a map and clues expertly prepared by Mark Treasure Hunt 2024

Race report by Greg: Thanks everyone what a race tonight . I was running really well until I decided to make an overtaking manoeuvre to pass 4 runners mid way. Lostock AC members headed to Bury to compete in the Bury 10k for the latest instalment of the Road Runners Championship. 7 Lostockers lined up with over 1,000 runners in the rain to complete the 10k route. Joining Lostock AC has been one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I decided to give it a try mainly to loose weight and meet new people. It's really helped with my weight, mental health and output on life. I've been in the club over a year now. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and I love being part of the Lostock family. My running has definitely improved, especially seeing all the medals I've won. It is not just running, Lostock offers other activities too such as cycling, bootcamp and skiing. All I've had a go at which has just been brilliant. Lostock is my second family . I have entered the Machester marathon next year and an ultra. All this for someone who couldn't run . Everyone has made me feel very welcome in the club, I now consider myself to be a runner and would recommend anyone to give Lostock a try.

I joined Lostock AC to help improve my running and to motivate me to run more often. The club has surpassed my expectations. I am not from Bolton originally and did not have many friends in the area. I now feel part of an extended family. I have been encouraged and supported to run half marathons, marathons and an Ultra. I would never believe this was possible 3 years ago.
