Allithwaite 8

Race report by Tony: As usual, it seemed like a good idea at the time – a race that Sheila and I hadn’t done previously as part of our ‘training’ for the Benidorm half in three week’s time. I’d either not read the small print, or had forgotten in the meantime, that the ‘8’ is Allithwaite 8

Cross Country 1

Race report by Karen: Saturday afternoon was the first cross country race of the season in the South East Lancashire Cross Country League. The weather was sunny and reasonably warm, as is often the case for the October race. Louise and I were representing the Lostock women and we made our way to the start Cross Country 1

Parkrun Takeover

Lostock AC painted Haigh Woodland parkrun green for a full club takeover on Saturday 18 October. The popular 5k event saw Lostock members fill every volunteer role — from timekeeping and barcode scanning to marshalling and tail walking — ensuring the morning ran seamlessly. The club’s cheers and cowbells echoed through the scenic woodland course, Parkrun Takeover

One of the most anticipated fixtures in the Lostock AC calendar, the Chair’s Road Race, took place on Wednesday evening, drawing a superb turnout from across the club. Yorkshire Marathon

Race report by Dave: We had a great time in York. We arrived Friday night, so had time to enjoy the National Rail Museum, a chocolate story on Saturday before heading out to dinner in a city packed with tourists. I realised I’d booked for the Italian for the Friday by mistake so Wagamama noodles Yorkshire Marathon

4 Paw Challenge

Race Report by Jon: Warning – long story. 🤣 This weekend was the 4 Paw Challenge, an event down at Thetford Forest, Norfolk. It was a multi category event, incorporating canicross, bikejor, scooters and full dryland sled rigs. For me, it was my first ever go at bikejor. I like to know what I’m doing 4 Paw Challenge

Langdale Horseshoe Fell Race

Race report by Josie: 12.5mi/5000ft ascent. It’s a beast of a race from start to finish! Starting with a 2mile climb onto the tops followed by a run across Martcrag Moor, the home of the fellrunner swallowing bogs! A spicy traverse under Esk Pike. A rocky ascent of Bowfell before a navigational nightmare of Crinkle Langdale Horseshoe Fell Race

Joining Lostock AC has been one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I decided to give it a try mainly to loose weight and meet new people. It's really helped with my weight, mental health and output on life. I've been in the club over a year now. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and I love being part of the Lostock family. My running has definitely improved, especially seeing all the medals I've won. It is not just running, Lostock offers other activities too such as cycling, bootcamp and skiing. All I've had a go at which has just been brilliant. Lostock is my second family . I have entered the Machester marathon next year and an ultra. All this for someone who couldn't run . Everyone has made me feel very welcome in the club, I now consider myself to be a runner and would recommend anyone to give Lostock a try.

I joined Lostock AC to help improve my running and to motivate me to run more often. The club has surpassed my expectations. I am not from Bolton originally and did not have many friends in the area. I now feel part of an extended family. I have been encouraged and supported to run half marathons, marathons and an Ultra. I would never believe this was possible 3 years ago.

I’m proud to be a member of Lostock AC, it’s an inclusive club with lovely people, there’s plenty of sporting activities to get involved in and the social get togethers are always welcoming and fun.
