Ramsbottom Mile

Lostockers headed to Ramsbottom to take part in the Ramsbottom Mile, for the later instalment of the Central Lancashire Grand Prix. This is a fantastic event, taking place in Nuttall Park in which runners run in different waves and try to run the fastest mile they can achieve.   As participants run just 1 mile Ramsbottom Mile

Parkrun Results- Mary’s 100th!

Lostock AC member Mary completed her 100th Parkrun at Haigh Woodland Parkrun this weekend. White completed the course in 27:02 winning her age category.   Other Parkrun results: Bolton Parkrun: Melonie Crompton 27:04 (1st in age category), Peter Noble 32:56 (3rd in age category) and Rachel Hancock 36:18. Chip Chase Fell Race

Shutters and Checkers completed the Chip Chase Fell Race. The race take place in the Peak District. This is an undulating race, covering 5.59 miles and an elevation gain of 1,352ft.  Shutters was the first to finish in 1:05:33, he was followed by Checkers who experience a trainer malfunction and was required to tie his Chip Chase Fell Race

Southport 10k

On Sunday 2 Lostockers headed to Southport to complete the Southport 10k. Given the events unfolding in Southport this week, the race saw the running community unite. There was a tribute to the three children that lost their lives and runners left flora tributes.   The race is a flat and fast race. Runners start Southport 10k

Barrowdale Fell Race

Race report by Fell Captain Josie Greenhalgh: On Saturday, I arrived at Rosthwaite for the 50th running of the fell race, ‘Borrowdale’.  This is a classic AL race with a distance of 17miles and 6500ft elevation which summits Englands highest mountain, Scafell Pike and the mighty Great Gable another giant of the Lake District. Docklands Marina 10k

5 Lostock AC members headed to Preston to take part in the Dockland Marina 10k in Preston. This is a scenic and flat 10k race which starts at the Ribble Pilot Pub on the side of Preston Marina. The race starts with participants completing a partial lap of the marina, then turning left to complete Docklands Marina 10k

Media City 5k

The July instalment of the Media city 5k took place on Wednesday. The race series organised by Runthrough, takes place in the evening from April to September and competitors are encouraged to chase the sun as they complete two laps around media city. I was a beautiful evening for the run and Lostock AC members Media City 5k

Mountane Lakeland 50 Mile challenge

Two Lostockers, Amanda  and Lurdes completed the epic Mountane Lakeland 50-mile challenge at the weekend. This gruelling challenge commences at the northern end of Ullswater it covers tough terrain, visiting Haweswater, Long Sleddale, Kentmere, Ambleside, Tiblerthwait before a final climb and descent to finish at Coniston. Participants covered a dizzying climb of 3100m(10,170ft). The run Mountane Lakeland 50 Mile challenge

Joining Lostock AC has been one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I decided to give it a try mainly to loose weight and meet new people. It's really helped with my weight, mental health and output on life. I've been in the club over a year now. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and I love being part of the Lostock family. My running has definitely improved, especially seeing all the medals I've won. It is not just running, Lostock offers other activities too such as cycling, bootcamp and skiing. All I've had a go at which has just been brilliant. Lostock is my second family . I have entered the Machester marathon next year and an ultra. All this for someone who couldn't run . Everyone has made me feel very welcome in the club, I now consider myself to be a runner and would recommend anyone to give Lostock a try.

I joined Lostock AC to help improve my running and to motivate me to run more often. The club has surpassed my expectations. I am not from Bolton originally and did not have many friends in the area. I now feel part of an extended family. I have been encouraged and supported to run half marathons, marathons and an Ultra. I would never believe this was possible 3 years ago.
