Race report by road captain Gareth: Yesterday saw 14 Lostockers (I’m including honorary youngster Luke Baker, who ran because his dad Chris entered twice by accident lol) take part in the beautiful Last Drop Village 5K race. This is North Bolton Runners event & the last on this years Central Lancs Grand Prix circuit. And Last Drop 5k

Cross country #2

Saturday saw the second instalment of the South EastLancashire Cross Country. The ladies race starts at 13:20 and sees participants completing 3 laps of a very muddy and undulating field. The laps cover 5 miles with an elevation gain of 460ft. It was a wet and cold day which made the laps more challenging.   Cross country #2

Dave Staff Memorial fell race

Race report by Tony Marlow: 2024 started off as a good year race well for me. Several new races (to me) under my belt and feeling back on it after a lean couple of years. Dunnerdale Fell Race

Dunnerdale Fell race. This is short race covering just 5 milesbut it was still tough covering an epic 1,900ft elevation gain. The race covers the rugged fells between the Lickle and the Duddon valleys. It is a beautiful but tough course with varied terrain. Checkers had a fantastic time, stopping to take photographs and enjoying Dunnerdale Fell Race

Windmill Remembrance Day 10k

Lostockers headed to Lytham St Annes to join 1,361 runners for the annual Windmill Remembrance Sunday 10k. The race starts on Lytham Green with a 2 minute silence at 11am to remember and honour fallen heroes. The race then follows a scenic route along the coast towards Fairhaven, before completing a u-turn and concluding at Windmill Remembrance Day 10k

Shepherds Skyline Fell Race

Race report by Shutters: Shepherds Skyline Fell Race – 2nd Nov 2024, 1pm. This race is a personal favourite of mine having run this at least 11 times over the past 18 years. At 6 mile/10k 1150ft/350m ascent it is a typical short race and consists of an uphill start, a flat bit to Stoodley Shepherds Skyline Fell Race

Lancaster 1/2 Marathon

Jo travelled to Lancaster to compete in the Lancaster ½ marathon. Due to flooding on the route, there was a last-minute course change. The new course stared at Salt Ayre athletic track and was an out and back following the river Lune. This was a beautiful trail route on tarmac before finishing the last 300m Lancaster 1/2 Marathon

New York Marathon

Lostock member David Gregson travelled to New York to take part in the world famous, New York marathon. This iconic race starts on Staten Island, heads through Brooklyn, up to Queens before crossing the Queensborough Bridge in toManhatton. The race then heads north into the Brox, runners then head south running the final 3 miles New York Marathon

Joining Lostock AC has been one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I decided to give it a try mainly to loose weight and meet new people. It's really helped with my weight, mental health and output on life. I've been in the club over a year now. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and I love being part of the Lostock family. My running has definitely improved, especially seeing all the medals I've won. It is not just running, Lostock offers other activities too such as cycling, bootcamp and skiing. All I've had a go at which has just been brilliant. Lostock is my second family . I have entered the Machester marathon next year and an ultra. All this for someone who couldn't run . Everyone has made me feel very welcome in the club, I now consider myself to be a runner and would recommend anyone to give Lostock a try.

I joined Lostock AC to help improve my running and to motivate me to run more often. The club has surpassed my expectations. I am not from Bolton originally and did not have many friends in the area. I now feel part of an extended family. I have been encouraged and supported to run half marathons, marathons and an Ultra. I would never believe this was possible 3 years ago.
