Wednesday 1st May saw the first of the mid-week championship trail/road races. 19 Lostock AC members headed to Chorley to complete in the Astley Park trail race. This is a 3½ mile trail race covering two laps of the park.
It was a beautiful evening for a run and the sun had dried the ground making it excellent racing conditions.
Paul Edwards was the first to cross the finish line in an amazing 23:27, followed by Dave Parry in 27:11. The first female to complete the race was Hazel Hadfield in an epic 28:30.
Other results include Gaz Foulkes (28:55), Chris Baker (29:08), Greg Kilshaw (29:11), Andy Laycock (29:55), Brian Halton (30:14 – 2nd in his age category), Rachel Hancock (30:27), Mike Berry (30:34), Tony Maxwell (31:27), Heather Soden (31:53), Kerry Jackson (32:48), Rachel Stevens (33:38), Katie Edern (35:40), Sheila Garewal (36:30), Ste Hancock (37:03), Lynda Hardman (37:42) and Karen Taylor (38:08). Gillian Caldwell was required to retire from the race following a nasty fall. Other Lostock members made excellent cheerleaders, encourage everyone over the finish line!

Lostockers were on tour at Parkrun this weekend: Katie Edern ran 31:33 at Holyrood Park in Edinburgh to finish third in her age category, while Rachel Stevens produced an excellent run at Oosterplas Parkrun in the Netherlands, finishing in 26:45 to place eighth overall, second female and first in her age category.
On the international stage, Paul Edwards represented the club at the Paris Marathon, completing the iconic race in 3:09:52.
