Race Report by Captain Rachel Hancock
2UP FireFighters Duathlon
After keeping an eagle eye on the weather this week I was disappointed with the forecast for today, wet and windy ๐
Queued up at registration then racked our bikes, 8am and we were off, cheered on by Greg Kilshaw and his air horn.
A mile uphill on the cobble road really warms you up, after a loop round it was downhill back to the transition where some debate over the right amount of layers took place, we finally mounted our bikes and were off, up sheep house lane (never gets easier), along Belmont road then a change in the route due to temp traffic lights meant more climbs, the brutal hill to Anglezark then a steep downhill, once the hills were out the way just had to battle the winds back to transition then quick strip and the last run to go, wobbly legs disappeared after a while and we managed to finish strong.
Hardest duathlon Iโve done, great to have a strong and encouraging partner like Josie Greenhalgh with me ๐.
A fantastic event and it was amazing to have 6 Lostockers taking part, Andy Laycock, Paul Lacey, Melonie Crompton Goodall, David Wilkes & his daughter Emily, everyone smashed it, well done ๐
Thanks to our other supporters and official photographers Sally McCoy, Beverley Atherton-mckenna & Janet Rhodes.
