Race report by Gareth:
Yesterday saw an amazing 29 Lostockers (out of a field of 200) take part in the 8th race in this years road/trail champs…the Blackrod Scarecrow Festival 10K.
Now in its 3rd year, this super friendly, well organised event has clearly become a firm favourite with members of team green. And what’s not to like? The course is a lovely mix of road, canal towpath & trails, with some great fast downhill sections and uphill slog thrown into the mix.
Starting and finishing at the Phoenix Club, sorry Hilltops Sports & Social Club 😜, we set off at 9:00 started by the mayor of Blackrod himself (or my client Richard as I like to call him lol) with a narrow start very briefly uphill to the church & then a speedy downhill section to Vicarage Road before turning right and uphill to Hill Lane then down to the Goose and Gander and all the way downhill on Blundell Lane for over a mile till we hit the canal and take a right towards Adlington on the canal for a mile, then down the steps to the River Douglas, cross the bridge, up the zig zaggy rocky bit then onto the old railway line. Follow the old railway line for 3/4 mile or so and before the “fun” starts and you exit left up the hill towards Aberdeen Farm and then back up Blundell Lane – what goes down must go up! – and slog your way uphill all the way back to the finish.
Waaay too many people to mention everyone individually unfortunately but there were LOTS of standout performances as Lostock swept the boards! Gaz was first back for us (again! 👊👊) very closely followed by fellow Blackrod residents Greg & Antony with John H hot on their heels. Janet was first Lostock lady, first local lady (special prizes for Blackrod residents!) and first FV50! Age category wins for: Hazel, Jo, Dave, Sally, Sheila & Mary….wow, amazing running guys!
Big shout outs to Dave on his first race back from a long injury lay off, Paul on his first run in 3 weeks since IM 70.3 and a ridiculous work schedule & Gillian & Joanna who got the biggest cheers of the day, it sounded like the olympics we made that much noise 💚🖤.
Huge thanks for the on course support & photography to Gill, Ian, Emma & Orla, Claire & Zippy dog.
Here are the Lostock results, well done everyone 👊👊👏👏👏.

Race report by Jo M: Today I headed to Lancaster with the intention of running the half marathon, but after not fuelling particularly well and getting very little sleep following a trip to see SIX, I decided the 10K was the better option. I figured I’d use it as a training run ahead of the ... Lancaster 10k
