  5. Ullswater Sprint Triathlon

Race report by Rachel Hancock:

We headed into Ullswater for the sprint distance triathlon, the water was warm but really choppy and I couldn’t get in a rhythm with my crawl so I muddled my way round doing breaststroke but at least that meant I got to admire the scenery.

The bike route was undulating but it is the lakes 🤣 enjoyed being out there on fairly quiet roads, there was a section with temporary lights so all competitors had to get off and run with their bikes and then restart on a hill, very glad I’d sorted my gears out after the downhill as I could hear some crunching of gears behind me 🙈, good downhill back to transition then out on the run.

The run was relatively flat with all kinds of terrain, you do an out and back then a circle of a field, then its along the shingle beach and what a great view running along the lake before hitting a tarmac road and running through the campsite towards the finish, lots of support and a great event, my time was 01:57:20, not my best but I’m happy to be under 2hrs and I enjoyed it 🏊🏼🚴🏼🏃‍♀️

Aggies Stair Case Fell Race

Race report by Josie: The second race on our midweek Fell Championship is a local favourite, AGGIE’S STAIRCASE FELL RACE. Organised by neighbouring club Darwen Dashers, this 4mi/1148ft race is a lung and leg buster with lots of runnable terrain. With 30degree heat and humidity, runners were advised to wear hats and carry water. It ... Aggies Stair Case Fell Race

Joining Lostock AC has been one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I decided to give it a try mainly to loose weight and meet new people. It's really helped with my weight, mental health and output on life. I've been in the club over a year now. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and I love being part of the Lostock family. My running has definitely improved, especially seeing all the medals I've won. It is not just running, Lostock offers other activities too such as cycling, bootcamp and skiing. All I've had a go at which has just been brilliant. Lostock is my second family . I have entered the Machester marathon next year and an ultra. All this for someone who couldn't run . Everyone has made me feel very welcome in the club, I now consider myself to be a runner and would recommend anyone to give Lostock a try.

I joined Lostock AC to help improve my running and to motivate me to run more often. The club has surpassed my expectations. I am not from Bolton originally and did not have many friends in the area. I now feel part of an extended family. I have been encouraged and supported to run half marathons, marathons and an Ultra. I would never believe this was possible 3 years ago.

I’m proud to be a member of Lostock AC, it’s an inclusive club with lovely people, there’s plenty of sporting activities to get involved in and the social get togethers are always welcoming and fun.
