Race report by Gareth:
A staggering turnout of 27, out of a field of 115 (and it would have been 28 if I counted Deb but I can’t as apparently, she’s not a member lol) Lostockers descended on Astley Park for the second of the 3-race series over the very seldom raced distance of 3.73 miles 😊.
The recent heavy rain turned the pretty, undulating 2 lap course into more of a trail shoe race than a road shoe event. I’d describe the course in more detail, but I’ve run out of adjectives after writing 3 race reports per year on the same event for the last 4 years.
Obviously, there are way too many people to mention everyone individually but suffice to say I was utterly brilliant & would’ve won if I’d ran faster than the 54 runners who finished in front of me, talk about being robbed of certain victory! I appealed to the race director, but I haven’t got a case it transpires, political correctness gone mad if you ask me.
Other standout performers (other than me) were Gaz who stormed home in a terrific time to be first Lostocker, closely followed by new member John H who continues to make rapid progress & is a bigger dark horse than Black Beauty, he’s getting closer & closer to the fast lads & lasses every race. Tony Marlow continued his recent trend of running a race every day to be a fantastic 2nd MV60 & Janet backed up all her recent epic achievements by winning the FV50 category despite not feeling at her best. Hazel put a difficult time behind her with a brilliant 2nd FV40 & Brian was his usual strong & consistent self to be 3rd MV60.
Sixties super duo Nikki & Sally were 2nd & 3rd FV60 respectively & Tony Maxwell continued his recent recovery from a long period out injured with a strong finish & it was fantastic to see Karen back in club colours after a spell on the sidelines. Terri tried to fool the judges by running as a bloke but unfortunately this backfired & she was 20th (out of 20) MV40…you might want to message the organisers & get your proper result lol.

Race report by Jo: Our 6th Parkrun Championships fixture took us to our very own Haigh Hall, where 28 Lostockers raced around thick mud that felt more like January than June. Haigh being Haigh, the route gave us its usual mix of hills, more hills, and that one section where you’re convinced the ground is ... Parkrun Championship Haigh Hall
Race report by Josie: On Saturday, I travelled to the beautiful village of Buttermere in the Western Lake District to run The Buttermere Sailbeck Fell Race. A tough 15km (9.3mi)/ 1,315m (4314ft) mountain horseshoe over two distinct ridgelines. Although a relatively short fell race (for me), a lot of elevation is packed into the distance ...
