Race report by Jo:
Before I start, apologies if I’ve missed anyone, the Night Run results have to be searched individually, which makes it a very time‑consuming job.
Friday evening’s Ironman Night Run was the second race in three days for most, and for Gaz Del Pacho it was unbelievably his third consecutive race. Around 1,700 runners took part across the 5K and 10K, starting in Bolton town centre near Le Mans Crescent and Bolton Town Hall, and finishing in Victoria Square. The route wound through Queen’s Park, a proper curly whirly course that kept everyone guessing.
There were far too many Lostock runners out to list individually, but a few performances really stood out.
Gaz @began the night saying he was taking it easy after racing on the previous two evenings, then promptly shot off like a rocket, finishing as the first Lostocker home in 20:43, placing 53rd out of 736. As Andy said, he really is a machine.
Next home was Andy Kerks in 20:50, securing himself a new 5K PB. Luke followed in 21:28, and not sure how a 15‑year‑old ends up in the same category as his dad, but here we are, he’s getting stronger every race.
Our first Lostock lady was Janet Rhodes, finishing in a brilliant 22:06.
We also had category wins to celebrate, Sally McCoy stormed to the FV60 win in 24:45, and Sheila Garewal took the FV70 win in 29:01.
And in the 10K, Emma Louise Chadwick had a fantastic race, finishing in 55:59, a brilliant effort on a twisty 2 lap course.
Every single Lostocker in the 5K was home in under 30 minutes, a great show of strength across the board.
A special mention to Paul Lacey, who said he was taking it easy as he’s completing the Ironman on Sunday, yet still finished in 25:34, good luck to you and Rachel Susan Hancock on Sunday, we are all behind you.
A great night all round, well done to every single one of you who raced.
