  5. Media City Christmas 5k and 10k
Lostock AC runners got into the festive spirit at the RunThrough Media City Christmas 5K & 10K, swapping mince pies for miles and bringing plenty of seasonal cheer to the fast, flat waterside course. It was an interesting mix of people at the start line with some runners clearly aiming for a PB and others wearing festive costumes, just hoping to enjoy the atmosphere.
Both races consist of laps around Media City, the 10k consisting of 4 laps and the 5k consisting of 2. This is a fast course as is mostly flat with some bridges taking runners across the Manchester Ship Canal. It is a fast finish to the race with the final 100 meters being a descent from a bridge directly to the finish line. There is always a fantastic atmosphere at the race with enthusiastic volunteers cheering runners around the course. It was a beautiful calm but cool morning, it was perfect running conditions.
In the 10K, Mel delivered an early Christmas cracker of a performance, storming home in 47:17 to secure a brand new personal best. Mel kept things nicely on pace from start to finish, making it a run to remember.
The 5K also saw Lostock AC well represented. Rachel S crossed the line in 25:33, enjoying the buzz of the Christmas-themed event, while Markus followed with a strong and determined run to finish in 29:37. With festive outfits, cheerful spectators and plenty of encouragement along the route, both runners made the most of the seasonal setting.

Joining Lostock AC has been one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I decided to give it a try mainly to loose weight and meet new people. It's really helped with my weight, mental health and output on life. I've been in the club over a year now. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and I love being part of the Lostock family. My running has definitely improved, especially seeing all the medals I've won. It is not just running, Lostock offers other activities too such as cycling, bootcamp and skiing. All I've had a go at which has just been brilliant. Lostock is my second family . I have entered the Machester marathon next year and an ultra. All this for someone who couldn't run . Everyone has made me feel very welcome in the club, I now consider myself to be a runner and would recommend anyone to give Lostock a try.

I joined Lostock AC to help improve my running and to motivate me to run more often. The club has surpassed my expectations. I am not from Bolton originally and did not have many friends in the area. I now feel part of an extended family. I have been encouraged and supported to run half marathons, marathons and an Ultra. I would never believe this was possible 3 years ago.

I’m proud to be a member of Lostock AC, it’s an inclusive club with lovely people, there’s plenty of sporting activities to get involved in and the social get togethers are always welcoming and fun.
