Race report by Checkers:
The other Sunday Me and Mark travelled over the Spine of England to do the Mytholmroyd Fell race. Registration was at the same place the Hebden goes from. I could not remember whether or not I had done this race before, definitely not in November. As so many races are done on these hills. A very wet day not actually raining to begin with just loads of precipitation, and low cloud on the top. I got off to a good start leading Mark going up a nice feeling😊 which didn’t last too long as I could feel someone tugging at my bum bag🙁 Coped quite well with the rest of the climb passing the whinging runners 😊 Thankfully the run across Crow Hill was easy to follow.
It was when we got to the bottom, it became tricky as a marker was obviously placed in the wrong place. I saw a narrow trod full of footprints crossing the main track?🤔 So I followed? After about 100m ? There’s something not quite right? Where did the footprints go? By now a whole group of runners had followed me? TURN ROUND. Soon got righted 😊 We all stayed together going along the main track up to the infamous staircase straight back up to the moorland plateau where there are numerous trods going in all directions. Thankfully it was well marked 😊 we were soon across and now heading back contouring along the western edge of the moor, raining now. I was trying to stay with the other runners. I was tiring now so gave up trying to keep up on the final downhill. Also trying to take a photo? This was pointless as it was so wet. By now it was heavily raining as I passed through the finish. With Mark still waiting after along 20 minutes 😊 Thanks Mark.
Another race done 😊
