Race report by Emma:
Blackburn 10K. Official Chip time 55.00. Beat last year’s time of 57.39. So a course PB and 10K PB by a very small 33 seconds.
It’s always a cold one for Blackburn! The temperature was a chilly 0 as we set off.
As we got off the motorway, the sun was rising over Blackburn and the sky was clear, perfect race conditions , bar some slight ice on the ground.
Met up with Jay, Dougie and other from Farnworth runners. Unsure of everyone’s times.
This is a mildly undulating course which started promptly at 09.30 (juniors 11.15) starts and finishes in the ground of Ewood Park, home of Blackburn Rovers.
The route took us along Bolton Road and over the iconic blue and white Wainwright Bridge, then a tour of Blackburn town centre, taking in the cathedral and main shopping streets. The route then took us to Bank Top towards Witton Country Park, before turning towards Mill Hill, under the Ewood Aqueduct before returning to the stadium.
Quite a few people go in fancy dress, I should have gone as Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer as I’ve a raging cold and lovely red nose to match!
Had to rush back home after finishing so didn’t get a finishers group shot.

Lostockers were on tour at Parkrun this weekend: Katie Edern ran 31:33 at Holyrood Park in Edinburgh to finish third in her age category, while Rachel Stevens produced an excellent run at Oosterplas Parkrun in the Netherlands, finishing in 26:45 to place eighth overall, second female and first in her age category.
On the international stage, Paul Edwards represented the club at the Paris Marathon, completing the iconic race in 3:09:52.
