  5. Chair’s Road Race
One of the most anticipated fixtures in the Lostock AC calendar, the Chair’s Road Race, took place on Wednesday evening, drawing a superb turnout from across the club.
The route starts at the corner of Victoria Street and Church Street in Horwich before climbing steadily up Chorley Old Road to the Bob Smithy Inn, where runners turned for a fast and flowing return leg. The mix of uphill grit and downhill speed once again made for a thrilling test of fitness and pacing.
Phil Holland took the honours in a winning time of 30:35, followed by Greg Kilshaw in 31:48 and Mark Shuttleworth in 31:56, rounding off a fiercely contested top three.
There were strong performances throughout the field, with Gaz Foulkes (32:20), Evan Burrell (32:55), and Chris Baker (33:17) all impressing. Gareth Pratt (33:35) and Rachel Hancock (33:52) were next home, showing great consistency.
Andy Laycock (34:55), Mike Berry (35:05), Sally McCoy (35:48), and Bev Atherton-McKenna (35:56) all delivered solid runs, while Paul Lacey and Hazel Hatfield who ran the race together finishing in 36:20, just ahead of Jon Tunson and his dogs Hope and Huxley (36:23).
Rachel Stevens (36:54), Louise Jeffrey-Read (37:36), and Terri Aldred (37:36) ran strongly together, with James Jackson (40:24) and Ian Johnson (42:26) rounding off the results with determined efforts.
A shorter two-mile race also took place, with David Wilcock (22:30) and Colin Holdcroft (27:34) putting in fantastic efforts on the testing course.
The evening concluded with smiles all round, as members celebrated another successful club event that perfectly captured Lostock’s blend of friendly rivalry and supportive spirit.

Race report by Emma: Blackburn 10K. Official Chip time 55.00. Beat last year’s time of 57.39. So a course PB and 10K PB by a very small 33 seconds. It’s always a cold one for Blackburn! The temperature was a chilly 0 as we set off. As we got off the motorway, the sun was ... Blackburn 10k

Joining Lostock AC has been one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I decided to give it a try mainly to loose weight and meet new people. It's really helped with my weight, mental health and output on life. I've been in the club over a year now. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and I love being part of the Lostock family. My running has definitely improved, especially seeing all the medals I've won. It is not just running, Lostock offers other activities too such as cycling, bootcamp and skiing. All I've had a go at which has just been brilliant. Lostock is my second family . I have entered the Machester marathon next year and an ultra. All this for someone who couldn't run . Everyone has made me feel very welcome in the club, I now consider myself to be a runner and would recommend anyone to give Lostock a try.

I joined Lostock AC to help improve my running and to motivate me to run more often. The club has surpassed my expectations. I am not from Bolton originally and did not have many friends in the area. I now feel part of an extended family. I have been encouraged and supported to run half marathons, marathons and an Ultra. I would never believe this was possible 3 years ago.
