Six Lostockers joined 1624 runners at the Wigan 10K. The race started from Mesnes Park in the centre of Wigan. Lostockers spent too long standing around chatting and as a result, got stuck in the middle of the pen with the 70-75 minute pacers, the front runners made it a challenge to see how many pacers they could catch over the 10k!

The race is organised in conjunction with Joining Jack and all registration fees go directly to the charity to be invested in research and clinical positions to help in the battle to find treatments and end Duchenne for all boys living with this horrible muscle wasting and ultimately incurable condition.

Jack started the race with a 10 second count down and we were on our way heading towards Wigan town centre, then onto the DW stadium. We looped around the stadium to then make our way back to Mesnes park. The sun was shining at this point and this made difficult hot conditions for the final 3 miles. A great effort from all in some hot and sticky conditions.

The first Lostock AC member to cross the line was Dave Parry in an impressive 44:08, crossing the finish line in 168th position. The next to cross the line was Jo McManus (47:23), followed by Andy Laycock (48:24), Greg Kilshaw (54:13), Rachel Stevens (57:36) and Kate Rotherham (1:07:20).

Parkrun Championship Haigh Hall

Race report by Jo: Our 6th Parkrun Championships fixture took us to our very own Haigh Hall, where 28 Lostockers raced around thick mud that felt more like January than June. Haigh being Haigh, the route gave us its usual mix of hills, more hills, and that one section where you’re convinced the ground is ... Parkrun Championship Haigh Hall

Buttermere Sailbeck Fell Race 2026

Race report by Josie: On Saturday, I travelled to the beautiful village of Buttermere in the Western Lake District to run The Buttermere Sailbeck Fell Race. A tough 15km (9.3mi)/ 1,315m (4314ft) mountain horseshoe over two distinct ridgelines. Although a relatively short fell race (for me), a lot of elevation is packed into the distance ... Joining Lostock AC has been one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I decided to give it a try mainly to loose weight and meet new people. It's really helped with my weight, mental health and output on life. I've been in the club over a year now. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and I love being part of the Lostock family. My running has definitely improved, especially seeing all the medals I've won. It is not just running, Lostock offers other activities too such as cycling, bootcamp and skiing. All I've had a go at which has just been brilliant. Lostock is my second family . I have entered the Machester marathon next year and an ultra. All this for someone who couldn't run . Everyone has made me feel very welcome in the club, I now consider myself to be a runner and would recommend anyone to give Lostock a try.

I joined Lostock AC to help improve my running and to motivate me to run more often. The club has surpassed my expectations. I am not from Bolton originally and did not have many friends in the area. I now feel part of an extended family. I have been encouraged and supported to run half marathons, marathons and an Ultra. I would never believe this was possible 3 years ago.

I’m proud to be a member of Lostock AC, it’s an inclusive club with lovely people, there’s plenty of sporting activities to get involved in and the social get togethers are always welcoming and fun.
