Wednesday night saw the annual Chair’s Fell Race. This is a race for club members that commences at Rivington Hall Barn and traverses the fells of Rivington. The race covers 5 miles and an elevation gain of over 1,000ft. The race requires runners to run to the top of the Pike and winter Hill.
The weather started with good weather but half way in to the race, the weather changed and the rain started to fall heavily. This made the run more challenging and the ground slippery. The hill back down to the barn claimed 4 victims with runners slipping in the muddy conditions.
The first Lostockers to cross the finish line were the fell captains Josie Greenhalgh in an impressive 48.10 and Mark Shuttleworth in 50.25. They were shortly followed by Mike Ernill in 51.33, Nikki Hamerton in 54.58, Kerry Jackson in 55.16 and Dan Woods in 55.27.
Other results include: Phil Holland 55.43, Sally McCoy 55.48, Greg Kilshaw 56.42, Matt Carney 58.10, Heather Soden and her dog Buddy 58.19, Gaz Foulkes 59.16, Brian Halton 59:47, Andy Laycock 62.52, David Wilcock, 69:00, Hazel Hatfield 69.26, Gareth Pratt 69.16, Mary White 70:00, Ian Burns 72:09, Mark Checkley 72.35, Christine Smith and Gillian Caldwell 94.53.
