Race report by Gareth:
Last night the midweek champs drew to a close with the 7th and final race.. the Ramsbottom Summer Mile.
Another great turnout of 16 Lostockers were brave enough to put their bodies & heart rate on the line! If you’ve never raced a mile, it’s a truly horrible experience 🤣🤪, give me an ultra any day!
This is a super slick and well organised event in Nuttall Park, Ramsbottom, taking place over 2 hours with 12 waves of runners with 281 runners having a blast. And it really is a blast in every sense of the word, starting and finishing under the arch on the grass everyone goes off like a rocket, onto the path that surrounds the park, run around the roundabout of flowers and back on yourself to the finish. The best thing about this event is the opportunity to support your club mates & fellow runners. As it’s in waves every one gets screamed around the course with all the route accessible to spectators, it makes for a unique experience with a tremendous atmosphere & as everyone will testify, that support from your mates helps so much when you’re eyeballs out 🤪🤮. It really is a super hot event with the first 6 fastest runners all under 5 minutes & despite moaning to Rach all the way to Ramsbottom about having to drive 40 mins for a mile, I’ll definitely be back 🤣.
Too many runners to mention everyone individually but stand out performances from Gaz who stormed down the finishing straight in 6:03, Hazel with a mega impressive 6:20 (3rd in age cat) Rachel Susan Hancock won her wave by a country mile, Sally & Johanna also led their waves for most of the mile got got pipped towards the & massive well dones to Beverley & Mary for 3rd place age cat finishes! 💚🖤
Here are the Lostock results, not including Mary’s..well done everyone:
Lostockers were on tour at Parkrun this weekend: Katie Edern ran 31:33 at Holyrood Park in Edinburgh to finish third in her age category, while Rachel Stevens produced an excellent run at Oosterplas Parkrun in the Netherlands, finishing in 26:45 to place eighth overall, second female and first in her age category.
On the international stage, Paul Edwards represented the club at the Paris Marathon, completing the iconic race in 3:09:52. The Paris course is widely regarded as one of the most scenic marathon routes in the world, beginning on the famous Champs-Élysées and passing some of the city’s most recognisable landmarks, including the Place de la ...
