Race report by Jo:
Chorley 10k race report.
There was a fantastic turnout from the team at this year’s Chorley 10K, with runners tackling the challenging course and delivering some brilliant results along the way.
The route is a local classic, starting and finishing in Chorley town centre, weaving through residential streets before heading into the scenic but demanding Astley Park. The course features sharp turns, rolling hills, and a deceptively long climb through the park, which tests the legs. Despite its challenges, the route is a favourite for its lively atmosphere, enthusiastic support, and fast downhill finish into Market Street.
Dave led the team home in fine form, clocking a strong 44:55 and navigating the hills and twists with confidence. Jo was close behind, running 47:21, which earned her 17th female overall and 3rd place in the V40 category.
The team’s performances kept rolling in:
Andy ran a gritty race to break the 50-minute barrier, finishing in 49:14
Paul followed with a smooth and steady 50:35
Tony paced it well to finish in 51:14, just ahead of Chris who crossed in 52:01
Brian stayed strong through the final stretch, finishing in 52:34, with Rachel chasing hard to come home in 53:53
Among the standout runs was Heather, who stormed through the hills to finish in 53:22, earning a well-deserved 2nd place in the V55 category.
Rounding out the team:
Terri (55:42) – steady and consistent throughout
Lynda (58:56)– a determined push saw her dip under the hour mark
Shelia (1:00:05) –finishing with strength
Stephen (1:01:58) and Karen (1:03:47) – both showing great resilience and team spirit from start to finish
It was a brilliant day of competitive racing, personal milestones, and team camaraderie, all on one of the North West’s more deceptively testing 10K routes.
