Race report by Josie:
Beater Clough Fell Race – 6.8mi/2070ft
Myself, Mark S & Mark C headed over to Todmorden this morning for this superb little race. Formally a midweek race that proved difficult for many to get to, race organiser Dan Taylor moved it to Saturday for a better turnout. With 82 runners on the start line, the race throws in forest paths, stream crossings, open moorland, bogs, tussocks and lots of ups and downs! The highlight is Beater Clough itself – a steep heather covered ravine which runners descend to a stream before a stiff climb up the other side. The clough is crossed again on the return journey. I led the Lostockers home & finished 3rd lady. Mark Shuttleworth questioned his sanity whilst climbing out of the clough but went on to finish the 2nd half of the race much stronger. Finally, Mark Checkley completed the Lostock trio having enjoyed the gnarly descents & a great race in general! Well done all ๐คฉ๐๐
