Race report by Andy K:

Worsley Woods 5 Mile Trail Race

The penultimate race of the season saw another great turnout for team green as 14 Lostockers made the short trip to Salford and the leafy Worsley Woods for the 5 mile trail race. The course is a mix of flat paved tree line paths, mixed with a couple of challenging trails sections through the woodland… Oh and steps – an unnecessary amount of steps to disrupt your rhythm

Paul (32:50) was first back for Lostock with another remarkable run securing a 12th place finish and 3rd in his age category. Andy K (36:01) managed to recover from 10 Miles 10 Pubs the day before to edge out Antony (36:32) to ensure the V35 section couldn’t be tighter going into the last race. They were closely followed by Phil (37:39) who put in another strong performance.

The first Lostock lady back was Jo (38:04, 1st FV40) who carried on her incredible recent form and got another age category win, followed by Hazel (40:19, 3rd FV45) who carried on her impressive return from injury to fend off everyone’s favourite grumpy duo of Brian (40:21) and Andy L (40:30). Having batted the flu all week, Greg (42:19) put in a brave showing.

Dougie (48:00) and Rachel (51:54) both had great runs and are both improving week on week. Lynda (54:52) produced an incredible and determined performance supported all the way round by the wonderful Terri (54:53). The happiest and most triumphant finish was reserved for Checkers (55:56) who seemed to fully enjoy his first race of the year

Huge thanks go to George, Jenna, Louise, Emma, & Orla for their support and photos.

With a lot left to play for in a number of categories, the championship will conclude at Myerscough in December 💚🖤

Preston 1/2 Marathon and 10k

Race report by Tony; Inaugural Preston half marathon. Following on from yesterday’s 3 shires Fell race I decided that I would start this very steady and try not to get caught up in any ‘racing battles’. I bumped into clubmate Matt Withers at registration, also competing in yhe half and his wife Jo. The race ... Preston 1/2 Marathon and 10k

Joining Lostock AC has been one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I decided to give it a try mainly to loose weight and meet new people. It's really helped with my weight, mental health and output on life. I've been in the club over a year now. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and I love being part of the Lostock family. My running has definitely improved, especially seeing all the medals I've won. It is not just running, Lostock offers other activities too such as cycling, bootcamp and skiing. All I've had a go at which has just been brilliant. Lostock is my second family . I have entered the Machester marathon next year and an ultra. All this for someone who couldn't run . Everyone has made me feel very welcome in the club, I now consider myself to be a runner and would recommend anyone to give Lostock a try.

I joined Lostock AC to help improve my running and to motivate me to run more often. The club has surpassed my expectations. I am not from Bolton originally and did not have many friends in the area. I now feel part of an extended family. I have been encouraged and supported to run half marathons, marathons and an Ultra. I would never believe this was possible 3 years ago.

I’m proud to be a member of Lostock AC, it’s an inclusive club with lovely people, there’s plenty of sporting activities to get involved in and the social get togethers are always welcoming and fun.
