Lostock AC were out in force at the Runthrough Warrington Festival of Running. There were 3 races taking place a 5k, 10k and 1/2 marathon.
Jo McManus, Rachel Stevens and Jay Smith took on the 10k. The route started in Warrington centre and headed out of the centre through Victoria and Blackbeard Park, along the Manchester Ship canal, before heading back to the finish.
Stevens and Smith started the race together supporting and pushing each other for the first 5k before Smith was able to push ahead. The 5k race commenced 15 minutes after the 10k, as a result 10k runners caught up with the 5k runners in the last mile. This made the fight for the finish line tough with lots of weaving around steadier runners.
McManus was the first to cross the finish line in an impressive 48:18. Both Smith (51:19) and Stevens (52:19) had an outstanding race both securing a new personal 10k best.
7 Lostockers completed the 1/2 marathon course. The runners started with the 10k runners but included a loop of Grappen Hall Heyes. Again, there were some epic PB’s.
Dave Parry completed the race in 1:32:05, shortly followed by Phil Holland in 1:35:05.
Terri Aldred achieved a sub 2 hour 1/2, finishing in 1:59:39. Beverly Atherton-McKenna finished in 2:02:21 and despite a nasty fall early into the race Lynda Hardman finished in 2:15:58.
George Iveson and Douglas Ainsworth ran together finishing in 2:16:55.

Race report by Steve: Sunday morning didn’t have the familiar Lancashire chill we’re used but at last it was mild! The atmosphere around the school car park was comfortably warm from the off. Race report by Jo: When I signed up for this race back in September, I definitely wasn’t expecting to be running in tropical heat in Edinburgh. The day kicked off early with a 5:45am park‑and‑ride bus into the city. The race started at 8am on Potterrow outside the University of Edinburgh’s McEwan Hall. After the ... Edinburgh 1/2 marathon
