15 Lostockers headed to Radcliffe to complete in the Radcliffe AC Multi Terrain 5k. This is a tough race, starting at Sedgley Park Rugby Club, the race heads along Philips Park Road, before turning on to trails as Waterdale. The first mile of the race is all down hill and participants use this to their advantage with runners achieving a fast start to the race.
The recent rain had left parts of the course extremely slippery with some runners being forced to walk sections to enable them to stay on their feet. The final mile of the race was the toughest. It started with an extremely steep hill, that tested runners’ endurance as they used all their energy to reach the top, it was then across a very bouncy motorway bridge, down some slippery cobbles, before a final uphill towards the rugby ground.
The final part of the race was a flat lap around the Rugby pitch. This enabled a speedy finish with runners sprinting to the finish line.
The first Lostock AC member to cross the finish line was Paul E in an awesome 20:07. Paul was followed by Greg in 23:59, Andy in 25:37, Gaz in 26:06 and Brian Halton in 26:10. The first Lostock Lady to finish was Rachel H in an impressive 26:19, followed by Jo 28:55 and Rachel S in 29:41. Gill also had an amazing run, winning her age category, completing the race in 35:09.

Race report by Jo: Our 6th Parkrun Championships fixture took us to our very own Haigh Hall, where 28 Lostockers raced around thick mud that felt more like January than June. Haigh being Haigh, the route gave us its usual mix of hills, more hills, and that one section where you’re convinced the ground is ... Parkrun Championship Haigh Hall
Race report by Josie: On Saturday, I travelled to the beautiful village of Buttermere in the Western Lake District to run The Buttermere Sailbeck Fell Race. A tough 15km (9.3mi)/ 1,315m (4314ft) mountain horseshoe over two distinct ridgelines. Although a relatively short fell race (for me), a lot of elevation is packed into the distance ...
