Race report by Fell Captain Josie:
Tuesday evening was the Pete Hartley Memorial Fell Race. The first of our midweek races making the most of the longer days. Starting at Marl Pitts Leisure centre in Rossendale, the race climbs up some muddy bankings to the moors and gradually climbs over moorland and farm fields until reaching the summit of Liver Hill. It is here that the race returns the same way to the finish. It was particularly wet this year and extremely muddy which was reflected in slower race times overall.
Tony Marlow had a storming run to finish first Lostocker followed by Mark Shuttleworth. Next home and first Lostock lady was Nikki Morrison who was 6th lady overall and also 2nd in her age cat! Next in was Rachel Susan Hancock with a good consistent run to take 1st LV50 and finally yours truly..hobbling along at the back with a calf injury 😩. 4.3mi/820ft and a creme egg on the finish line!!😎😁
