Race report by Checkers:
A great way to celebrate my birthday. With a trip up to Horton to do the Pen Y Ghent fell race being chauffeur driven by Mark. A bit difficult getting food and drink right for a 3pm start at the warmest part of the day. I was a bit apprehensive before the race after last weeks severe aches and pains. So a slow steady start. The road section through the village was a bit long. As soon as the climb began I settled into a good climbing pace across the open moor. The final part of climb is extremely steep. Exposed rock I always enjoy scrambling up. Even though my legs were aching. Once over the top. I really wanted to lie down and sunbathe and just enjoy the view. I was still in slow mode I had no vava voom. All I could do was plod going down. However the run down was fantastic good soft moorland terrain which was dry and great views. The last leg of the race wasn’t so great. Even though downhill all the way on a hard stoney walled track. It got really warm. I was really flagging now. Thankfully the road section was shorter. Someone passed me. There was a little climb over the bridge, i just walked it. As I came threw the finish, I mentioned that it was my birthday today. We stayed for the prize giving. There were spot prizes being handed out. The R O said ” I believe,it’s someone’s birthday today” I promptly received a pack of beer. Then everyone sang happy birthday. It really funny as nobody Knew my name.

Race report by Jo: When I signed up for this race back in September, I definitely wasn’t expecting to be running in tropical heat in Edinburgh. The day kicked off early with a 5:45am park‑and‑ride bus into the city. The race started at 8am on Potterrow outside the University of Edinburgh’s McEwan Hall. After the ... Edinburgh 1/2 marathon
