  5. Parkrun Results 2 August 2025
Due to the holiday seasons there were limited races this weekend but Lostockers were out in force at Parkrun. Enjoying the beach and the sunshine, Chris and Karen Taylor completed Seaton Parkrun. This is a beautiful coastal Parkrun completing laps on the coastal path. Chris finished in 28:58 and Karen in 25:32. They enjoyed a lovely swim in the Channel to cool down after the run.
Rachel Stevens joined 198 people at Rothay Parkrun in the Lake District, finishing in 27:26. This is a 3 lap course that laps Rothay Park and Miller Field. There are some narrow gates and single file area, so this is not a PB course but a beautiful Parkrun in the shadow of the Lake District Fells.
Katie Edern completed the Bath Skyline Parkrun, joining 244 other Parkrunners and walkers, finishing in 45:07.
Closer to home, Jay Smith had a string run at  Fletcher Moss Parkrun in Didsbury, finishing in 26:16.
Even closer to home Sheila Garewal completed Bolton Parkrun in 31:17 securing second in her age category. Greg Kilshaw was the first Lostock Member to cross the finish line at Haigh Woodland Parkrun in an impressive 24:50. He was followed by Brian Halton in 25:19, Andy Laycock on 26:01, Mary White in 27:25 (winning her age category) and Ian Burns coming third in his age category in 30:10.
At Penington Flash Parkrun, Lynda Hardman got a new PB and came second in her age category. Mark Checkley also came third in his age category in 29:26.

Ian Hesketh Memorial Duathlon Race

Race report by Steve: Sunday morning didn’t have the familiar Lancashire chill we’re used but at last it was mild! The atmosphere around the school car park was comfortably warm from the off. The Ian Hesketh Memorial Duathlon — a low-key, friendly affair run by Burnden Roadrunners for the second time — is exactly the ... Ian Hesketh Memorial Duathlon Race

Edinburgh 1/2 marathon

Race report by Jo: When I signed up for this race back in September, I definitely wasn’t expecting to be running in tropical heat in Edinburgh. The day kicked off early with a 5:45am park‑and‑ride bus into the city. The race started at 8am on Potterrow outside the University of Edinburgh’s McEwan Hall. After the ... Edinburgh 1/2 marathon

Joining Lostock AC has been one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I decided to give it a try mainly to loose weight and meet new people. It's really helped with my weight, mental health and output on life. I've been in the club over a year now. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and I love being part of the Lostock family. My running has definitely improved, especially seeing all the medals I've won. It is not just running, Lostock offers other activities too such as cycling, bootcamp and skiing. All I've had a go at which has just been brilliant. Lostock is my second family . I have entered the Machester marathon next year and an ultra. All this for someone who couldn't run . Everyone has made me feel very welcome in the club, I now consider myself to be a runner and would recommend anyone to give Lostock a try.

I joined Lostock AC to help improve my running and to motivate me to run more often. The club has surpassed my expectations. I am not from Bolton originally and did not have many friends in the area. I now feel part of an extended family. I have been encouraged and supported to run half marathons, marathons and an Ultra. I would never believe this was possible 3 years ago.

I’m proud to be a member of Lostock AC, it’s an inclusive club with lovely people, there’s plenty of sporting activities to get involved in and the social get togethers are always welcoming and fun.
