Race report by Jo:
Our 6th Parkrun Championships fixture took us to our very own Haigh Hall, where 28 Lostockers raced around thick mud that felt more like January than June. Haigh being Haigh, the route gave us its usual mix of hills, more hills, and that one section where you’re convinced the ground is moving backwards just to test your character, that’s what it felt like pushing the pram.
First over the line for Lostock was Paul Edwards in a very quick 20:24, closely followed by Andy Kerk in 21:47 who secured a Haigh Hall course PB and just seems to be getting quicker and quicker. Our first female home was Janet Rhodes in 23:25, taking the 2nd female spot overall.
As the Championship is based on age grading rather than time, our winner for this month was Mary White with an impressive 83.91, scoring a massive 90 points. Luke Baker, another one who seems to be speeding up every week, also secured himself a Haigh Hall PB.
We had some milestones this week too. Rachel Steven completed her 100th Parkrun, finishing in 100th position which is just perfect, and Markus Stevens completed his 50th Parkrun.
Here are all the Lostock times in order:
Paul E 20:24, Andy K 21:47, Antony S 22:33, Greg 23:06, Janet 23:25, Luke 23:50, Brian 24:13, Matt W 24:29, Mark S 24:44, Jason 25:47, Sally 26:03, Chris B 26:26, Gareth 27:05, Rachel S 27:40, Heather & Buddy 27:40, Lee 27:59, Bev 28:35, Tony M 28:37, Mary 28:54, Chris T 29:05, Katie 29:52, Sheila 31:05, Marcus 31:30, Dougie 32:00, Terri 32:01, Jo & Órla 32:57, Carol 33:44, Jo W 34:16

Race report by Josie: On Saturday, I travelled to the beautiful village of Buttermere in the Western Lake District to run The Buttermere Sailbeck Fell Race. A tough 15km (9.3mi)/ 1,315m (4314ft) mountain horseshoe over two distinct ridgelines. Although a relatively short fell race (for me), a lot of elevation is packed into the distance ...
