On the international stage, Paul Edwards represented the club at the Paris Marathon, completing the iconic race in 3:09:52. The Paris course is widely regarded as one of the most scenic marathon routes in the world, beginning on the famous Champs-Élysées and passing some of the city’s most recognisable landmarks, including the Place de la Concorde, the Bois de Vincennes and the banks of the River Seine.
Runners are treated to sweeping views of historic architecture as the route winds through the heart of the French capital, with sections through tunnels along the Seine adding a unique challenge due to changes in light and gradient. The course then heads west to the expansive Bois de Boulogne for the closing miles, where tired legs are tested on long, gently undulating paths.
Edwards ran strongly through much of the race before fatigue set in around the 20-mile mark, a point often described as where the marathon truly begins. Encouraged by well-timed support from family along the route, he showed resilience to push through the closing stages and secure a highly commendable finish time, later celebrating with a well-earned recovery in the Paris sunshine.
The day prior to the Marathon, Edwards’ family competed in the warm up event with Jenna Wood having a fantastic run and Eide Edwards taking part in the children’s race.

Race report by Emma: Yesterday’s Manchester Marathon was tough. The weather started off ideal—cool, sunny, and comfortable—but it didn’t stay that way for long, and I ended up feeling far too hot. Around mile 9 or 10, I developed a really painful stitch that forced me to stop for while. Luckily, I had some Gaviscon ... Manchester Marathon
