🏁 Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride 🚴♀️☀️ 113 Miles for The Christie 💙
Alarm: 5am. Temperature: already 18°C. Brain: questioning life choices.
But spirits? HIGH.
We pedalled to the start at Salford Quays just before 6am, where the Lowry Plaza was buzzing with lycra, smiles, and nerves. Cyclists of every shape, size, and saddle preference — from seasoned club riders to first-timers — all ready to take on the 62 -mile ride for The Christie.
The sun was blazing from the start, and the early miles were busy as we weaved through a sea of wheels. But eventually, the pack stretched out and we found our rhythm. First feed stop was at Haigh Hall — water bottles refilled, sun cream reapplied (again), and a collective “HOW is it this hot already?!” moment.
From there, heads down and legs on: we pushed hard through the Lancashire countryside, chasing the breeze and counting down to the coast. Spotting the Lytham windmill felt like seeing an oasis — we knew the end was in sight.
Final stretch along the seafront, and then… the glitter ball! 🎉 The finish line! 75 miles done and dusted in the blazing heat.
One burrito and a well-earned beer later… we got back on the bikes and rode 38 miles home to Bolton. In the midday sun.
Tough. Hot. Glorious.
All for an incredible cause — The Christie 💙
