Lostock AC members enjoyed a fantastic weekend in Ambleside in the Lakes District taking part in a number of the Lakeland Trails challenges.
The event sees participants taking part in a numbers of races including 100k, 55k, 23k and 14k.
Josie and Greg opted for the epic 55k challenge. The course covers an epic 35miles and an elevation gain of 5,800ft. The route starts at Rothay Park and then immediately starts a steep climb in to the fells, towards Glenridding and Ullswater. Runners pass Grisedale Tarn and head to Grassmere, they circle Lingmoor Fell, through Elterwater and back towards Ambleside.
This challenge is not for the faint hearted as the tough terrain makes this a demanding course with many competitors failing to compete the challenge.
Josie had an epic race finishing in 8:12:22, securing second in her age category. Greg also had an outstanding run finishing in 9:12:22.
7 Lostock AC members completed the 23k race. This race covers 14.3 miles with an elevation gain of 2,749. Rachel H and Louise were first to cross the finish line in 3:05:57, followed by Sally and Heather 3:21:33, Bev and Janet 3:24:14 and Amanda in 3:41:54.
Rachel S completed the 14k (8.5 miles with an elevation gain of 1,500ft) in 1:44:51.
