Saturday brought further celebrations as club members gathered at Parkrun to mark Ian Burns’ 200th Parkrun milestone. A strong Lostock contingent turned out in support, with several runners achieving age-category successes and personal bests.
Among the standout performances were Brian Halton (24:52),Janet Rhodes (25:55), Mary White (28:01) and Rachel Stevens(28:23), who all claimed victories in their respective age categories. Jay Smith (24:48) recorded a new personal best at Haigh Woodland Parkrun, while several other members earned podium positions in their age groups across the country.
Other results included: Greg Kilshaw 23:30 (3rd in age category), Chris Baker 25:29, Bev Atherton-McKenna 27:21 (2nd in age category), Lee Burns 27:50, Ian Burns 29:49 (3rd in age category), Katie Edern 30:04, Gill Baker 30:39, Markus Stevens 30:49, Jo and Orla McManus 32:56 and Karen Taylor 35:22.
Elsewhere, Andy Laycock (25:46) finished first in his age category at Foro Italico Parkrun, Tony Maxwell (28:24) was second in his category at Milton Country Parkrun, Sheila Garewal (32:20) finished third in her category at the same event, Andy Kerks (21:26) secured second place in his age category at Worden Parkrun, and Mark Shuttleworth (23:55)claimed second in his category at Worsley Woods.

The club’s ever-popular annual Treasure Hunt saw members racing around Westhoughton and Aspull in search of answers to a series of clues devised by club member Mark Smith. The event combined running, navigation and problem-solving, with participants covering between four and seven miles in pursuit of valuable points. With warm sunshine and overgrown ... Treasure Hunt
Road racing success came at the Manchester 10K and Half Marathon. Jo McManus completed the 10K in an impressive 47:41 and enjoyed the added bonus of meeting Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes at the finish line. Meanwhile, Andy Kerks continued his excellent form by recording a personal best of 1:41:14 in the half marathon.
