Josie Greenhalgh is the Ladies Fell Captain alongside Mens Fell Captain Mark Shuttleworth. A supportive partnership working together to encourage and advise people wanting to run/race on the fells and moors. As a fellrunner with 11 years experience, one of my earliest big achievements was the Bob Graham Round. I have since gone on to complete a number of Ultra-distance fellrunning challenges including 4x100milers and multiple mountain marathons.
I used to run on the track & road many years ago, but my preferred terrain was the mud of cross country! It was only later in life I began running up Winter Hill where ALL the mud is! It was then that I learned about fellrunning.
I love the friendly and relaxed nature of the fellrunning community. This is most evident at Lostock AC’s club fell run where likeminded people enjoy the openness of the hills, chat, and a pace suitable for all.

Haigh being Haigh, the route gave us its usual mix of hills, more hills, and that one section where you’re convinced the ground is ... Parkrun Championship Haigh Hall
Race report by Josie: On Saturday, I travelled to the beautiful village of Buttermere in the Western Lake District to run The Buttermere Sailbeck Fell Race. A tough 15km (9.3mi)/ 1,315m (4314ft) mountain horseshoe over two distinct ridgelines. Although a relatively short fell race (for me), a lot of elevation is packed into the distance ...
